The Supreme Court of Virginia just told the Democratic Party that the will of the people to redraw their congressional maps is null and void. Appears an election was supposed to occur before the will of the people could be executed.

SCOTUS "interpreted" the Voting Rights Act using an Orwellian excuse they were affirming that racial bias can not influence districts. The truth of the matter is they believe they will effectively dilute the votes of people of color.

The Virginia referendum to redistrict House seats and which was approved by the voters yesterday has been blocked by a Republican judge. This promises to be overturned since it was a voice of the people not a voice of the otherwise potential losers (Republicans) such as occurred in Texas.

It looks like a "drip, drip, drip" of bad news which Trump's minions formerly were able to cover. Now the news is rising in the MSM, including even in the WSJ. As that continues more GOPers will stand up to Trump or will "retire" so they do not get thrown our of office in November.

Trump seems not to understand that bullying to get what you want from your opponents may work in business circles where the principals are only looking at money. This does. not work among nation states. -1

During Trump's interview with the New York Times he claimed only his personal "morality" will be the determining factor in his decisions. His morality is vacuous at best if he has any at all. He confessed to being lawless and can break the law with impunity. If that isn't impeachable nothing is.

While no one can argue the 'ends' that Venezuela is better off without Maduro given his crimes nor can we argue against defending our borders from illegal crossings as well as narcotics the issue is the 'means'. When the ends justify the means without the rule of law we descend down a road to chaos.

May this New Year bring peace to ourselves, our families, our nation, and our world. But peace must begin with ourselves.

The more Trump rants against President Biden the more obvious it becomes Trump is envious of Biden and wants to deflect from his own failures and his inevitable accountability which is on the horizon.

1-Beginning in 2027 under a Democratic Party regime Congress needs to reassert itself as the avatar of the American People as the founders envisioned. The "unitary executive" idea is a canard created by the oligarchs who want to rule the country using a stooge(Trump).

When the next Democratic administration takes charge (2029 🙏) one of the first bills to be proposed will be a law to assert the responsibility of Congress to remove members of Congressionally defined independent agencies. Those agencies can not be a part if the Executive Branch.

As always I tend to see the better side of some attempts by Democrats to negotiate with Republicans. They want to get to "yes" but their opponents give lip service to "yes". Government employees may get their jobs and salaries back and SNAP continued but I do not expect the GOP to fund the ACA.

1-Now that our Federal Government has relinquished its responsibility toward the poor our churches need to step up to the plate.

Some thoughts for a Sunday afternoon. We must focus upon our collective future; ourselves, our families, our communities, and our country. We need not try to restore our past, filled as it was with both grace and flaw, but we must look to the future like a child being born.

We can not read this poem without resolving to correct the errors of our government and restore the trust of the people for those who represent us.

President Biden did more to ensure peace than Trump could ever hope to replicate. Sometimes we need to confront an aggressor to convince them to back off. Biden did just that while Trump thinks kissing 🍑 will get him the graft he lives on.
