Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon. Happy to finally capture this one. From my location it was tough to get a good view. I set my alarm for 4am and took my rig and dog out in the back of the field that is our yard just as the comet climbed above the tree line. 🔭 @astrophotography

Say ahh! Looking inside the mouth of the Clamshell nebula. I processed this so many different ways with different variations of colour combinations that it was hard just to post one. Maybe I’ll do a montage later. 🔭 #astrophotography

I love this little nebula, so cool! This is NGC 7129, the Cosmic Rosebud cluster and NGC 7142, upper left, an open cluster swimming in a Red Sea of Ha. A combination of 18 hrs split between the Antlia quad filter and my L-eXtreme and was shot within days of the full moon. 🔭 #astrophotography

This is my image of NGC 281, a bright emission nebula in the constellation Cepheus. The Pac-Man Nebula was my target for the one solid clear night we had at the NYAA Starfest this year. I’m glad everything worked smoothly because I was able to get 6 quality hours on this one. 🔭 #astrophotography

I was hoping for at least two more nights on this guy but that hasn’t happened yet so I thought I’d post what I have for now. I believe it’s coming along nicely though. Here is vdB 152 aka Wolf’s Cave, or as some have called it, the Penguin. Just another dark nebula from the constellation Cepheus. 🔭

In the constellation Cepheus near the border of Draco lies another very cool object from the Lynds Dark Nebula Catalogue. LDN 1147/1158 is the Dark Scorpion nebula. 🔭 #astrophotography

Here’s an obvious one that I’ve never imaged before. This is Messier 17, the Swan or Omega Nebula, another brilliant star factory located in the constellation Sagittarius. It’s nice to be outside again but the nights seem too short this time of year. 🔭 #astrophotography

Simple and pretty yet this small planetary nebula, Abell 39, represents one of the most violent explosions in the galaxy and the end of life of a star and all that may have been orbiting it. 🔭 #astrophotography

NGC 4565 Is a very sharp looking galaxy that goes by many common names like the Needle Galaxy, Flying Saucer and Bernice’s Hair Clip. I’m sure there’s probably others too. Found in the constellation Coma Berenices, which a small constellation between Leo and Bootes. 🔭 #astrophotography

Once again I’ll dip into the archive from the “before clouds” era. This gorgeous star cluster is called the Pleiades or Seven Sisters, surrounded by the wispy clouds of a reflection nebula illuminated by the stars’ light. Another winter gem that highlights the visible night sky. 🔭 #astrophotography

The Great Orion Nebula. At only ~1500 ly's away it's the closest star forming machine to the earth and is even visible to the naked eye. You can find it as the 2nd "star" in Orion's sword. Processed to highlight the stars in the core. 🔭 #astrophotography

I was hoping to have posted a new image by now but this has been the most horrendous stretch of cloudy nights I’ve seen in a long time, I haven’t seen the stars in a month. So here’s a classic one from a 2 years ago. That Horsehead nebula and the Flame in the constellation Orion. 🔭 #astrophotography

The Wizard Nebula, NGC 7380 🔭 #astrophotography

This is another favourite image of mine. Bode’s galaxy and the Cigar galaxy appear to float amid the integrated flux nebula, IFN, which is the interstellar space dust illuminated by all the collective light from the stars in our Milky Way.

I guess while I’m decorating I might as well cheer up some of my gear. They’ve been sad sitting in the corner waiting for the clouds to go away.

One of the most colourful regions of the night sky and one of my favourites, Rho Ophiuchi. From my location this is only available for imaging a few good weeks a year hovering low in the southern skies.🔭 #astrophotography #deepsky

Globular star clusters are one of the most intriguing objects in the night sky. Tens of thousands to millions of stars bound tightly by gravity yet completely stable. They’re home to some of the most ancient stars in the galaxy. The Milky Way has over 150 globular clusters.

From our perspective, it takes 8 minutes for light from the sun to reach the earth. The light from this galaxy took over 30 million YEARS to finally end its journey at my telescope.🤯 🔭 #astrophotgraphy

In 1995, we were stunned by the iconic image of the Pillars of Creation taken by the new Hubble Space Telescope (left). Today, that image, with the advancement of technology, can be captured by an amateur with a small telescope, tracking mount, and camera. Well almost. 🫣🔭 #astrophotography

So far I’ve photographed a 🦀 , 🦅 , 🪼 , 🦉 , 🐘 and even a 🦇 and now here’s a gecko🦎 crawling through the constellation Lacerta, called of course, the Gecko Nebula, LBN 437. This is just his head so you may not recognize it as such though.🔭 #astrophotography

In October, I was able to capture the Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS). I really enjoy chasing comets even if they are a pain in the a%@ to process at times. Did anyone else see this one? It was visible to the naked eye for a short time. Especially with binoculars.🔭 #astrophotography#deepspace

Back to another dark nebula. “Dark nebula” sounds so evil like there should be Darth Vader music in the background whenever I say that. Anyway now that we’re all humming that in our heads, this one is called the Shark Nebula found in the Cepheus constellation. 🔭 #astrophotography #deepspace

Here’s something different, The Iris Nebula, LBN487, a bright reflection nebula surrounded by a large dark nebulous cloud that reminds me of a portal to another dimension. Located in the constellation Cepheus in the north sky. This took over 3 clear nights to capture. 🔭 #astrophotography #deepsky

Imaging a dark nebula is like trying to take a picture of a black cat, at night, with his eyes closed, 2 miles away. Hard to spot and even harder to image. Meet Barnard 150 (B150) a dark nebula called the Seahorse in Cepheus.🔭 #astrophotography

Just as we see familiar shapes in the clouds, astronomers also see patterns in the diffuse nebula of the deep sky. This faint emission nebula in Cygnus is Sh2-114, the Flying Dragon, taken over 3 nights.🔭 #astrophotography
