Shame on the @sfgate.com for promoting the imprisonment of Cecil. Gorillas are cognitively and emotionally complex beings who deserve to live freely. The San Francisco Zoo is exploiting him for profit and to satisfy human curiosity. Cecil should be rewilded or freed to sanctuary. Do better.

Two years ago, I helped develop and pass the first U.S. law recognizing a right for a nonhuman animal—elephants’ right to liberty. 🐘 It remains one of the proudest moments of my career and a major victory in the Nonhuman Rights Project’s work to secure fundamental rights for nonhuman animals.
