Debugging is fun because you can be like "why is this rock I just broke still the same weight as before" And then you look at the clock and it's been 2 hours #gamedev

I love me some high quality hobby supplies. Whether it's a fancy set of brushes, a drawing tablet with a screen, or maybe a really nice pair of hiking boots. BUT It's SOO fun seeing how much you can stretch bottom of the barrel, cheap supplies! Sure the quality is worse, but IT'S FUN

#b3d trick Sometimes doing UVs and texturing can be tricky because of little nooks and crannies in the model, but you can duplicate part of the mesh or make shape keys to explode it and simplify the process a little bit :)

Hiking and finding cool rocks is a blast, but I GOT TO SEE AN OWL 😍😍 I was carrying our toddler and my wife looked up from tying her boot to see a shadow swooping down at us from behind!! It was trying to be all imposing in the rain but I know behind those talons is a 2lb raging cotton ball 🤗

The truism of "if you can't make ot fun woth just cubes, you can't make it fun with amazing graphics" just highlights this point. Point A has a powerup. Point B has health. Point C a secret door. Point D is the exit. That's your level at its most stripped back.

Trying to chisel away at some mineral stone we got rockhounding recently, a fragment split off and it has quartz, grossular garnet, and epidote all clustered together

Something that might seem a bit silly from the outside but has made working on Emberhold a pure joy again is that I'm trying to make sure whatever I'm working on, I can have my toddler playtest #gamedev can feel challenging for me while juggling parenting, but this has made it a little less so!

A burl found we found on a hike yesterday, not 500 feet from a bible someone abandoned a while ago next to a giant moss covered tree. On the cover of the bible was a faded note saying "Mommy loves you. Daddy loves you. We're so proud of you" The energy was so eerie there. We left quite quickly.
