I think it's strange that AP English Lit test scores have risen so sharply given the simultaneous decline in reading for pleasure.

As I argued at the #MLA25 panel on "Saving Literary History," "plotting the rise of AP English alongside the decline of the undergraduate English major over the last two decades produces something like a perfect X, and does much to explain why literary history...needs saving in the first place."
