Allowing people to carry firearms in more places -- very few places are prohibited in Minnesota. Carrying without a permit, that should be the law of the land. A majority of states now do not require a permit, the rest should follow that path.

Allowing teachers & school officials to carry firearms - already legal here in MN. Waiting periods, we don't have those here. They're unconstitutional and courts are holding them as such.

Banning certain firearms and ammunition -- are we banning... the sale? transfer? possession? From my experience, polling on this issue varies based on what is actually being proposed. And we believe such bans are unconstitutional.

"Preventing People with Mental Illnesses"... this sounds good to most, but what are we asking for here? Every mental health care visit to be reported? People with depression prohibited from purchase & possession? We already prohibit dangerously mental ill from doing so post-adjucation of such.

Increasing the age to 21: 18-20 year old young adults are... adults. They have the full spectrum of constitutional rights, and that includes purchasing and carrying firearms. (See Worth v Jacobson, our case here in Minnesota)

There are over 20 million AR-15s in the US. According to an Ipsos poll 74% of AR-15 owners are white, 41% are Repubs vs. 10% Dems and 81% are male. If you ban their new manufacture of guns you do nothing. If you ban their sale you crystallize their demographic as white, conservative males.

Yes, we do. When we hear "weapons of war", we look for fully automatic firearms issued by the United States military - which are generally not available to civilians. When you say "weapons of war" - you mean millions of common firearms owned by civilians.

You equate the only solution here as taking firearms away from otherwise law-abiding, peaceable people. Rob articulates in his op-ed several other solutions that would have broad bi-partisan support - but you'd rather argue about gun bans.

We won a decision that the legislature cannot violate the single-subject clause in the MN Constitution. That's what was at stake here. Binary Triggers are a constitutionally protected accessory owned by thousands of peaceable Minnesotans.

Because law-abiding, peaceable Minnesotans aren't the ones killing people, and that's who permit-to-carry holders are. They are no threat to you.
