I may have coined a term: #writing uphill. This is when someone tries to write smarter than they are. Bricklaying vocabulary, obtuse jargon, overtly formal sentences. Shoehorning “amongst” or “utilize” (when “use” will do), or phrases like “a pic of Dad and I.” It’s more fun “riding downhill.”
