Quick update on the Pirate Pup! His recovery is actually going better than I expected 3 days post op. He’s still himself and looks like a vacuum cleaner attachment when he’s eating or sniffing for what is turning out to be the miracle cure that is duck jerky.

Finally getting to bring the boom and watch #AEWDynamite!

I literally slept all day and ordered some food. My boy is doing extremely well given the circumstances and I have learned when really high he’s even more cuddly. 😂

Got some sleep! Nanuk decided around 6 this morning that his Ally Friend was the absolute best mattress, and it was like well, at least if he gets up I’ll know, so I slept like that for a while. He currently is really high and just decided to plop his butt down on my face. 😂

Since this no sleep thing is for the birds, we got a couple ideas to keep yon Pirate Prince Nanuk for making a break for the stairs next to the bed. Im exhausted and next round of meds is in 2 hours so I’m hoping the hubs got enough sleep to babysit our 60lb drunken toddler.

My buddy ate a little and took his medicine like the good boy he is.

I got an hour of sleep and I’m awake. You have no idea who much I wish I could take all of this on myself. He’s been in our lives for the last 8 years and he’s gotten us through so many bad days and given us nothing but unconditional love and it hurts me to see him hurting.

I think for the first couple of days our plan is to sleep in shifts in case he tries to get out of bed. Since I haven’t slept in over 24 hours at this point, I get first sleep shift. I told him just because he was a Pirate Doggo, he didn’t have to walk around like a drunken sailor.

My buddy is currently resting his head on top of my foot and I really have to pee. I’m trying to figure out how I can move without disturbing him too much.

Well. The incision was much larger than we imagined, but it’s the best shot to give my boy a fighting chance. It goes about halfway down his face and to those who know his sweet face it will be jarring at first. It looks really bad because it’s swollen , bald and scary with the stitches.

Still waiting to bust my dude out, but he did super well and he’s now a swashbuckling doggo with one eye who is still really groggy from pain meds.

Nanuk’s surgery went really well and we can bring our boy home in 40 minutes. I’m going on the assumption he’s down an eye, but he’s awake. The plan is we all take a big nap when he gets home because I’ve not slept in like 24 hours.

Nanuk is now with the dogtor and he should be home around 4:30 pm. If I’m radio silent it’s not necessarily a bad thing because I’m going on zero sleep and the caffeine is not helping. Keep my friend in your thoughts for us, please.
