Yesterday we gathered outside the bargaining session with the UConn for a work-in to stand in solidarity for GA rights. We are in the depths of negotiations and demand to be heard! GAs deserve more! In these moments we remember the history of our union and we refuse to go back.

Come to the work-in this Thursday in Wilbur Cross from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM to keep fighting for strong protections for international GA’s and sign on to the petition to keep ICE out of UConn to keep all of us safe on campus (link in bio).

Our current contract includes a childcare reimbursement fund, but it hasn't been increasing yearly to keep up with inflation. Meanwhile, childcare costs keep climbing. We need an increased fund to account for the real costs of childcare and better supports working families.

We’re done settling for less than we deserve. We know what our work is worth and this campaign is about securing it. Now is the moment to get involved, stay informed, and stand with your coworkers. Unity is how we win!

Meet Our Bargaining Committee! Anne is a second-year PhD student in the Marine Sciences Department at Avery Point. She started union involvement as a steward because she felt her campus needed more union representation. She has since become our union’s Grievance Coordinator!

Kicking off the semester strong! We had fun tabling and talking with everyone earlier this week, and we’re excited to gear up with lots of buttons for a semester of bargaining and increased union visibility on campus!

Meet Our Bargaining Committee! Olivia is a GA in the Natural Resources department working on a project about human-carnivore interactions in urban areas. Outside of bargaining, they serve as co-chair of our Grievance Committee!

This past Monday we held our annual Steward Assembly! We’re proud to have over 30 stewards dedicated to organizing across our districts, and this assembly was a great opportunity to connect, reflect, and prepare as we enter a new semester of this contract campaign together.

Join us this week! Last year, the university approved to increase fees for GAs for the 2025-26 academic year by 13%. This year, we continue to fight against fees as we bargain for a fair contract! The link to join virtually can be found in bio!

Yesterday we hosted our union’s first Fall Festival! Festivities included bargaining bingo, pumpkin painting, lawn games, and arts and crafts. We enjoyed pastries, cider, and plenty of solidarity with our fellow workers!

Last Friday, we delivered a petition to UConn admin signed by graduate workers in virtually all departments calling for transparency in bargaining. In a time when higher education is under attack, it is time for UConn to commit to transparency and open communication with the public.

Meet Our Bargaining Committee! Grace started organizing with the union her first year as a PhD student because she was inspired to see what a difference a union could make for GAs and Postdocs at UConn. Since then, she has been a steward, staff organizer, and now our president for multiple years!

Last week, we held our annual Ice Cream Social to celebrate both the start of the semester and the beginning of bargaining! It was sweet to see so many GAs and Postdocs come out and connect!
