I’m currently working on a new series of rhytons (without much to show yet beyond blobs of clay hehe) and thinking about what other animals to add to the line up. So far I’ve done a series of stags, hares and rams. I have some ideas already but I’d love to hear yours!

First jackalope of 2025! What a cutie.

Barn Owl, 2025. Totally missed the superb owl opportunity yesterday, but here she is anyway! This is my first finished owl bust, and I’m fairly pleased. The oxides came out a bit darker than I’d planned, but the overall look is growing on me.

Alright, I’ve got a hankering to bring back the Rhyton form for a new series! These are so involved, but also such a fun sculptural adventure with each one.

Mushroom candle holders, 2024. (Sold) I keep going back and forth on whether I should make more of these this spring. I seem to be stuck on making lots of mushrooms, but… is that a bad thing?

Footed Lichen Mug, 2024. (Available) This series of mugs was such a fun shape to throw. The bottom of this mug is slightly curved, and then trimmed flush with the interior, which allows the feet to look like they’re part of the structure.

Amphora vase, 2023. Sold. I don’t make many plain amphora vases anymore, but I’ll have a few this spring! This form is so fun to throw, but it’s even more fun to sculpt additional features onto which is why I tend to have so few plain ones!

This form is easily one of my favorite forms that came out of 2024! It holds a generous amount of liquid and also manages to feel relatively light and delicate - I think because of the trimmed foot. They were an absolute beast to make, with very complicated trimming, but I’m sure I’ll make more!

Working on my first-ever wild boar sculpt! He’s coming on fairly quickly, considering I’ve been struggling with a migraine for over a week at this point. I’m a little obsessed with those teeth!

Pod Teapot, 2024. It’s been a while since I’ve made teapots! I think I’ll have to do a few the next time I throw. They’re always slow to sell, but that’s not what this is about - the reward of making a working teapot outweighs all!

These photos aren’t great because the sun was going down, but I’m thinking this batch of travel mugs may have built in clay lids instead of silicone lids, since silicone lids substantially increase the carbon footprint of each mug I make. Now… handles or no handles??

I’m working up a new batch of lichen travel mugs this week!

I’ve got a small batch of fungus inspired candle holders drying and awaiting the next firing. I’m not sure if I’ve got the balance right on these, though. They have to have enough weight at the bottom to help counter the top-heavy candle, when used. 🤷 we’ll see, I guess!

Isopods!! What do you call these little guys? I grew up calling them pill bugs, but there are so many other names!
