So predictable. #LFC were dreadful going forward against a regulation-threatened Spurs rife w/ injuries. But the longer it went at 1-0, you just knew what was coming. Richarlison kills Liverpool. Nothing sums up LFC better than botching a 4-on-2 break in the final minutes. Pathetic.

It’s hard to overemphasize how badly #LFC need to build on this lead and win the game. All you need is a gander at their remaining fixtures to understand how difficult things are about to get. Liverpool needs a second goal because Richarlison is lurking.

Fire are sitting back and hoovering up every #Crew96 cross. Would like to see wide men taking the ball to the byline and looking for cut backs.

Biggest takeaway from #LFC win is Rio deserves more time in the stretch drive. His injection of pace is much needed. Nice to see Liverpool advance in FA Cup, but I’d be lying to say this one was more important than 2-1 loss to Wolves on Tuesday.

#LFC lose again on a stoppage-time goal, but story of this game was the no-show first half. All the possession, nothing w/ it. Slow, predictable buildup. Gakpo is killing them. Salah isn’t much better even while scoring lone goal. How he squandered that break w/ score tied sums up his season (1/2)

FT: Sporting 2, #Crew96 2. Abou Ali barely put a foot wrong for 85 minutes. Then, he tried to guide a PK into the corner instead of powering it before missing wide on a free header. Sigh. Crew have to sort their transition defense. Undone by two counters and slap-dick defending on second goal.

Taha was very good in 60-plus minutes. Made things happen going forward. #Crew96

When #Crew96 get turned over, they are so vulnerable to counters. Rossi loses possession at top of Sporting box, and get badly outnumbered on tying goal.

HT: Sporting 0, #Crew96 1. Abou Ali w/ gift goal, but it was Taha who read the play, pounced on a poor attempt to play out by the keeper. Schulte w/ one great save. Gazdag woof.

All that matters is results this time of season. Good thing, too, because #LFC were all over the place in a 5-2 win over Hammers. Liverpool lucky West Ham are abject defending set pieces. #LFC better wake up. They lived dangerously in the first half and got away with it. This game is nowhere near over.

Absolutely shocking win for #LFC. They did virtually nothing the whole game & win it at the death. van Dijk deserved to factor in the winner. He was outstanding. What a time for MacAllister’s first goal. Credit to Slot for withdrawing Salah, who did little, and bringing on Rio, who made an impact.

#LFC survive a pathetic first half w/o conceding. Wirtz injury in warmups likely contributing to ragged play, but there’s zero connectivity in rare instances when they have the ball. Really poor. VvD has been excellent in having to defend waves of attacks.

Tough opening night loss for #Crew96. Played much better in 2nd half, but done in by late goal. Camacho culpable on first goal, but decision to take him off late might have contributed to winner. Cheberko, his replacement, allows runner to get a step on him on decisive goal. Abou Ali very good.

When does #CBJ  practice begin on Sunday? Good question. #CBJ  players (most of them) will gather at Nationwide Arena early in the morning to watch the USA - Canada gold medal game. Coach Rick Bowness, as excited as anybody, said practice will start 45 minutes after the game ends.

City Ground has been a Den of Doom for #LFC. Only one league win in Liverpool’s last 15 trips to Nottingham Forest, including a 1-1-1 mark since it returned to the Premier League. They also have beaten Liverpool in their last two trips to Anfield. A big game tomorrow awaits.

#LFC wilt after Szoboszlai stunner. Too much soccer played by too few players. Their hopes of landing last CL qualifying spot could be history by midweek w/ loss at Sunderland. Szoboszlai will miss that game b/c late red card. That’s at least 8 points dropped in stoppage time. How good was Guehi?

Not sure how #LFC survived first half without conceding. Good news is Liverpool are level, barely having a kick. Bad news is City has a bench brimming w/ offensive options as Liverpool begin to tire.

A dreadful first 35 minutes, but #LFC rally behind Hugo & Wirtz. Hugo’s second goal was peak Salah. Yes, a 4-1 win, but Virgil’s two critical defensive interventions when down 1-0 were huge. Nice to see Konate back. That goal at the end had to be incredibly emotional for him.

If the Arsenal set piece coach doesn’t win the Premier League manager of the year there needs to be an investigation. (As a fan of a team that can’t defend them, I’m a little jealous.)

RIP Catherine O’Hara. The syndication of "Schitt's Creek" helped keep me sane through the early months of Covid. Her character,Moira Rose, ranks among the most memorable in sitcoms. She was a brilliant actress, also known for Home Alone, Beetlejuice, and the sketch comedy SCTY.
