Just started playing Mortal Kombat 1, I’m halfway through the story mode and finding it funny how they keep asking “who is this mysterious woman pulling all the strings from the shadows?” And I’m just like “you mean the woman who looks and sounds exactly like the big bad guy from the last game?”

I’ve done jury duty twice now, and on both occasions it was a thoughtful, measured and respectful experience for all involved. Nobody lost their tempers, no dramatic outbursts, just calm, considered discussions between 12 people informed by a wide spectrum of backgrounds and experiences.

On the one hand: it’s not a particularly good movie. Not bad, either, just… not particularly good. On the other hand: it was the first Trek movie I got to see in the cinema (at the ripe old age of 8yrs old!👶), so can’t deny it is undiluted nostalgia for me.

I had brain-melting toothache for a whole year while trying to find a dentist within my price range and I can more than confidently tell you all that in that time my fast action ibuprofen was a damn godsend.

My new phone provider has a system in place blocking short codes being sent to my phone, which makes it difficult for me to confirm payments and logins Apparently I can deactivate it by logging in to their app And yet the first thing the app asks for is my number so it can send me a short code 🤦

I can’t imagine why this isn’t flying off the shelves…

Got to see an amazing performance from Abel Selaocoe in Oxford last night, with a very earnest and charming support set from @daudi-matsiko.bsky.social. Knew little to nothing about either performer going in, a fan of both coming out. A great evening all round.

I made a throwaway comment the other morning about how I needed to get some new socks. I came home from work that day to find my partner had gone and bought some muppet socks for me during her lunch break. Good lord, I love this woman.

Don’t ya’ hate it when you have an idea for what could be a pretty cool little indie game, but have absolutely no idea how to make it work from a programming perspective? Oh well, one more to add to the pile of discarded “wouldn’t it be nice if…” ideas.

Dare I say it, as much as the first two movies are absolute and undeniable pinnacles of genre cinema, the same is also true for the Terminator franchise…
