Losing our second so soon after the first, and to an ectopic, has been such a deep blow. There's so much to say and I don't know how to say it. The only people in my social circles I know who've had losses eventually had successes, yet it feels isolating to be left with just the experience of loss.

RL went well last week! The highlight was having the same LNWR driver with me from BNS to Rugby as I did last year when I was first learning this route. He remembered me which was lovely and we had a great little catch up! I’m definitely ready to sign this route off once I’m assigned to do so. (1/3)

It’s so satisfying when the numbers line up! 🤩 Brought 66207 into TP from Crewe with 4M73, then took 66206 out to Nuneaton with 4O21! First time I’ve ever driven consecutive numbers one after the other, so I’m very pleasing! 😃

Had another early one this morning! 😴 Started off with 4H72 from Gresty Lane in Crewe, where I did my very first driver-only runaround. It was a little nerve wracking but I did it! Pretty proud of myself for that! (1/2)

Brrr 🥶 … It’s been a chilly one today, but I made! It was an early start for me this morning running 4M90 from Crewe to Trafford Park with 66207, then followed by 4O21 from there to Nuneaton with 66179! Frozen outside, thriving in the cab. Would do again… Oh wait, I am again tomorrow! 😉

First train of the year complete! ✅ I haven’t driven a Class 6 for a while, so it was nice to slow things down a bit. It gave me the chance to take in the snowy landscape in the sunshine, which was just beautiful. Oh how I’ve missed this! ❤️

Day 2 out of 4 on the shed turn at the ETD! Just two more days stand between me and 3 whole weeks off! 😍 I’m definitely ready for some rest and relaxation. For now though, I’m enjoying my time on the ETD and making the most of the yard life! 🥰

I got to do something a bit different on Friday while I was on the shed turn! I was given the opportunity to repaint some Class 66 side mirrors from the old EWS maroon to DB red. (1/6))

Another fabulous day on the ETD. Prepped a 67 for its journey down to Dollands Moor dragging a 92 and shuffled a few more around the yard. I even got to drive one into the wheel lathe where I was lucky enough to be allowed to see the process up close…

First day back and it honestly doesn’t feel like I’ve been away at all!…

After what feels like forever, I shall be back in the driving seat next week! First few days will be on the ETD and then Thursday and Friday I shall be back to 4M83 and 4L56! Pretty excited for those days in particular! I’ve missed driving across to Trafford Park! ❤️

It’s so sad to hear the news about the Royal Train. As someone proud to work for the company that has the honour of operating this iconic part of railway history, it’s a real moment of reflection. I can only hope the 67’s will continue to be cherished and preserved for future generations to come!

Successful second day on the yard today! I finally got to drive some Class 67’s solo for the first time! It was great to get some hands on practice just shunting with them! However, I’m back on the Trafford Park jobs tomorrow. As much as I enjoy being in the yard, nothing quite beats the mainline!
