What do you think how many programming languages are "in use", perhaps has more than one user and some useful things are written in? Landin cites a survey that said there were 1,700 languages in 1965. We probably have millions if you count languages with at most one user.

I found it disturbing when something is wrong in a wrong way. Say, a documentation on a commercial software library is filled with hallucination. We old timers might say "it is hard to be wrong that way"; but now it is very easy to be wrong in many different ways.

I have been helping a local AI project, and the keep 4o movement sounds like a good reason to have your AI agent locally; not for better accuracy or inference ability but to have "your" AI.

The Croquet reflector has been open sourced. I finally gotten around fixing a few things so that now I have my own Croquet reflector and file server going. I think this is really good for wider adoption of the technology.

Just a few weeks ago ChatGPT was doing a decent job of fixing my LaTeX code, including JavaScript code samples in verbatim blocks. But today it messes up LaTeX and even breaks my JS code examples.

The VPRI video archive got some more addition. A box was left behind when we moved out from an old office, more than 10 years ago, but the box was kept by the care taker. The box had 20 or so video tapes, and those are digitized.

It's MyGo 13話の時点で「TGW物産」すでに出てきている。アルファベットにしてわかりにくくしているところが渋いし、損失補填するのが完全に唐突ではない、という話になるようになっている。

As I finished reading the Three Body Problem in Japanese translation, I revived my n-body simulation in Snap! It is cool that the gravity simulation can be written with three lines in a forever loop. But Somehow Snap! runs much faster than 4 years ago and I had to add wait.
