An easy 10k with a friend from my Magic playgroup. He has a pretty weird race ahead of him, so we talked a lot about how to manage absurdly short races on uneven courses. Not that I’m an expert, but we managed to guess a very random but convincing strategy.

Feeling a little less tired than yesterday. Still, the weather is inching closer and closer to summer, so I guess quality work will be harder by the day, now.

OMG! OMG! OMG! #PokemonGo.

Apparently trail running on Saturday and uphills on Sunday is a recipe for tired legs on Monday. “Tired” is probably not the right word, though. More like “I was feeling heavier than I usually do”. Well, the good news is that this week should be fairly easy, as I have a pretty nice race next Sunday.

Born to stay on the couch on Sunday morning, forced to celebrate Mother’s Day by running uphills in the rain with friends. I mean, it really was raining cats and dogs. Mud was everywhere, fortunately I was rocking my trail running shoes.

We ran once again up to the summit of Monte San Primo, roughly 1.600 m above sea level. The funny thing is that the trail we ran was part of a famous ultra trail competition that was being held this very week, so we met plenty of amazing runners along the way. Also the weather was fantastic.

So, as promised, last night I saw #MortalKombatII and I really want to talk about it. It might be a long thread, so please bear with me. Also, *major spoilers* ahead, please be advised. Long story short: it's my new favorite "so bad it's good" movie. But more. It's "so awful, it's phenomenal".

Feeling super sleepy today. I went to bed pretty late, last night, because we saw Mortal Kombat 2 in theaters with a couple of friends. Guys, the movie was awful perfection. I may have to do a thread on it. It was so fantastically terrible.

Last night I got to play a couple of two-hour games with my beloved Grimgrin #CMDR deck. I loved the super tense gameplay, but two different opponents managed to exile my graveyard at very key moments in both games. 😢 Still, I really love to play with Grimgrin and the deck always makes me feel good.

Trying to build back a little bit of speed. I’m in no hurry, as I have until this autumn to fully recover and, hopefully, get back in shape for a 21k and a 42k. That said, my VO2 Max had steadily declined over the last few months, as I have focused only on distance and not on speed! 😅

One last run here in Valpolicella, before we head back to the city. I guided my wife and two friends across the vineyards for a 12 kilometer ring of uphills and amazing landscapes. Pretty proud of this one.

Guys, I’m having so much amazing wine. Valpolicella is incredible.

AMarathon is (on paper) a half marathon between Pedemonte and Negrar, a region in Northern Italy famous for its Valpolicella red wine. The race was not really a half marathon, as we all clocked at less than 21 kilometers, with some brutal uphills. Now time to get wasted on some excellent wine!

I have the day off from work and tomorrow the celebrate Labor Day here in Italy. So of course I was dragged out of my very comfy bad a 6:30 AM for a quick run. We met a new group and, of course, I forgot to take a single picture with them. At least we got to run very slowly, today.

I was feeling so tired today. Legs didn’t cooperate, HR way too high. Just bad vibes. Pulled it off, but I kept telling myself it was the recovery form last Sunday’s trail and the sudden change of season we had. “You can blame it on the seasons or a lack of serotonin”, to quote my favorite band.

I finally had time to go through all of #MTGSOS and #MTGSOC card, so it's time for another one of my top ten cards from the Set(s)! 10. I am a huge fan of Wizards completing cycles and I was really waiting for the Izzet and Orzhov cycling lands! Or should I say Prismari and SIlverquill? 😇

Easy 10k before work. Now I’m off to meet a new partner for a pretty cool new collaboration. By the way, for those of you who don’t follow professional running, know what happened yesterday in London was historical! The top 3 male finishers ALL set a WR, with the first two going sub 2 hours! Insane!

Gattinara Brutal Trail was a pretty nice experience. A lot of uphills that could still be run at a reasonable pace. Not sure what made the trail “brutal”, as it was relatively easier than what we did last week. 20th overall out of 88 runners. A very nice morning with friends.

On April 25th, here in Italy we celebrate the liberation from the fascist regime. The shit hole of a government we currently has been trying for years to spin this day of celebration into a somehow “controversial” occurrence. So I guess it bears repeating: fuck the nazis and fuck the fascists.

My only regret about spending 30 hours in Bruxelles for the opening of the #EUDiversityMonth2026 is that I didn't get any time to visit the city. Better luck next time, I guess.

Monte Bisbino Trail was as brutal as expected. 1.150 meters of positive elevation gain in the first 5 kilometers and then a lots of up’s and downs, finishing with a steep descent back to Lake Como. #TrailRunning is never easy, but today was especially hard.

We had an easy run with some friends this morning. Tomorrow we attempt a very challenging trail. Send help if you don’t hear from me in 24 hours or so.

I am extraordinarily bad at judging good from bad coffee. Coffee at home? Good. Coffee from a premium brand? Good. Coffee from the fancy bakery? Good. The disgusting coffee from the cheap vending machine? Good. As an Italian, this is very shameful.

I hope BlueSky starts working again. A quick run before dinner with my amazing wife. Tried keeping a steady 4:35 - 4:40 pace and then going sub 4:00 for just the last kilometer. I really wanted to see a “3”, after so many months of long runs.

Shoutout to the friend who recommended Witch’s Clinic for my Grimgrin #CMDR deck. “You always pay so much life in that deck, you might as well try and gain some back”. Too bad this card is currently unavailable in foil.

A quick and easy run. Joined a friend for the second half. Somehow I still feel super tired. Oh, well. I guess this Sunday’s trail run is going to be painful.

#MTGSOS and #MTGSOC have a ton of amazing new stuff. Seems like a truly fantastic Set. There’s almost 30 new cards I really want. But this is the one I feel more puzzled by. I really want to try Excava in my Sisay #CMDR deck. I’m just not sure if it’s worth it.

Started off really well. Felt tired around the fifth kilometer mark. Finished the run just because I didn’t want to stop halfway. Ok-ish day, at least I did my best.

Today my fantastic wife ran a 10k in Gravellona Toce (a place you’ve rightfully never heard of) and finished in third place amongst all women! I’m so proud of her!

#MailDay. AITA? Seriously, I’ve wanted this for so long. It’s my reward for having finished the race from two weeks ago.

One last run for the week. Attempted a pretty tight progression, as I needed to reward myself for having dragged my sore body to the osteopath, yesterday.

Friday morning by run before work. I can’t wait to get to the weekend, not gonna lie.

Legs still felt a bit tired and not fully recovered, but I decided to run some variations to see how that felt. Apparently you can compensate for tiredness by having pizza for lunch and unleash a ton of energy after work.

Did you know that recovering after an #ultramarathon is hard? Legs felt exhausted after less than two kilometers. Keeping up, ‘cause I know not running would be worse.

Have a great Monday. Today is “Pasquetta” in Italy, literally: “little Easter”.

We have a #TrailRun race in two weeks, so my wife and a friend dragged me to try the first few kilometers of the trail. It was hard. 1000 meters of elevation gain in 5 kilometers is no joke.

My first run after last weekend’s 12 hour race. Just because we are in Verona for the long weekend and it’s always nice visiting and running here. My right thigh is still in pain, but we will recover with some patience.

The unexpected side effect of running a nocturnal 12 hour #ultramarathon is that my biological clock is now a mess. I woke up at 3 AM and had a hard time falling asleep again. Then I could hardly wake up at 7 AM and I wasn't hungry. Got to the office and I was starving. It's 4.30 PM and I'm sleepy.
