The headlines in today's The Times on the decline in Computing Science teachers in Scotland make for stark reading. Teacher recruitment is the biggest barrier to equitable access - but the numbers are the most visible symptom of a much wider system problem.

1/3 The biggest barrier to equity of access in CS is recruitment. To see the subject thrive in every secondary school, we must address the teacher shortage. It's the single biggest hurdle to ensuring every pupil can study CS, regardless of their postcode.

It’s been great to be part of this series of meetings and to contribute to such open, constructive discussions about Computing Science in schools in Scotland.

Last week, I had the privilege of sharing my journey from @StDavidsHS to @EdinburghNapier and, ultimately, into the classroom as a CS teacher. Speaking to HNC/D students at @WestLoCollege & @WestCollScot, Paisley campus was a brilliant experience.
