In 2004, when Darren White as our Sheriff was managing our city-county jail, a dozen guards formed "a welcoming party" for 3 arriving prisoners - who'd done nothing wrong yet at the jail - and beat up the 3 shackled men. On August 18, the #ABQ City Council approved the request by @mayorkeller.bsky.social for $2 million to start turning the 10-story north tower at San Mateo & Central into affordable housing. The 17-story south tower will follow later. If we reelect him, Tim Keller will complete this awesome project.

The FOP is mistaken. DoJ studied the Darren White Era of policing. A majority of fatal shootings were unjustified. And one-third of about 2,300 uses of force. And now (2024) it's 3.7% uses of force "out of policy". @TimKellerNM is the best Police Reform Mayor in the U.S., maybe in American history.

When he was overseeing APD in 2010 and 2011, Darren White told our police officers to "take the gloves off" when dealing with the homeless. They not only arrested far too many homeless people; they arrested the volunteers who were feeding them. Never again, Albuquerque, never again.

Crime is moving in the right direction in Albuquerque. Since 2018, violent crime is down 26% and property crime is down 33%. This progress comes from years of focused work, modern policing, and community partnerships. Real work, real progress for our city.
