There may be better songs than Idris Muhammad’s “Could Heaven Ever Be Like This,” but recently I can’t think of many. This song is so long that I can get there and back from my local movie theater on one play. Really, heaven. Underrated disco. Still a lot of good stuff to mine in that vein.

TRUE STORY: I love love love Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but don’t care that much for The Sting. Redford could be an inscrutable cypher—he has a hard time letting the audience in, but he still put in more than a fair share of great performances in good to great movies. Right up to the end.

Solidly in a new age of imperialism where “great” powers are carving up other countries’ territory, with an ascendent fake currency invented it seems to get around all the safeguards stopping another great depression. My $ says we’re lucky if we make it to ‘29 before a crash. But hey, no more woke.

I’ve been saying it since 2016, but I still think SNL would kill if they did a skit where Putin sings George Michael’s “Father Figure” to Trump. “Put your tiny hand in mine” indeed.
