Another memento mori monday! I'm very curious about the top section of this marker. I believe it is called a 'bolster' headstone, and was popular in the early 20th century. Could it be a pillow? A cushion? This one features lilies, which have symbolic meaning. #cemetery #mementomori

Memento Mori Monday. I can't get over these shrouded cemetery markers. The carving on the cloth looks so fluid, and they're dripping with symbolism. It'd be nice to see this come back into style, because old graveyards are really a lovely mix of museum and public park. #cemetery #mementomori

Cemeteries are perfect for exploring and guessing on the symbolism of markers. Take this one: we've got an obelisk, which can mean eternal life, heaven, or sun-rays. And it's also a shrouded monument, which might refer to draping cloth throughout the house while mourning. #photography #cemetery

Bachelor's Button / Cornflower? Spotted near Corsicana, TX. I just read that the flower is edible, and has anti-inflammatory properties? In folklore, young men in love would wear these flowers and if the flower faded quickly, it meant their love wasn't mutual. #wildflower

There are still some poppies hanging around in Central / East Texas. Spotted near Corsicana on a recent trip. The petals are so incredibly soft and fragile. Red poppies are also known as remembrance poppies, and were used to memorialize wars and their victims. #wildflower #photography

The sheer amount of joy I get from these cucumbers is hard to express. It's been a fight getting to this point, but switching to a soaker hose has really helped these babies get going. Somebody said that a garden is never finished, and that's 100% right on to me. Keep struggling!!! #gardening
