First day of #Lexember !! Might jump around a few of my conlangs this year, but I'm starting off with Orn Rood familial terms that I don't have already!

Although I wasn’t able to complete all the prompts I still had a lot of fun! Thank you for the opportunity to talk about my conlang!!

#ConlangNovember 28: The Ullalk word for 'say' has two etymologies, two forms. /an.los/, used for pst, pres, and fut and /lo/ for the verbal noun and /lo.ən/ the pst participle.

#ConlangNovember 25: There are two types of Ullalk taboos I've created words for, general profanities regarding sex or bodily functions and religious profanities. Among the weirder ones are Elchams /élx.əms/ 'fondle' (hold + frequentative) and Niis /níɪs/ literally 'to insert' (1/4)

#ConlangNovember 19: Ullalk's departure from Alun was mostly grammatical, though fueled by the loss of cases due to sound changes. Because Ullalk was a minority language for centuries, it took on much of the vocabulary of Esgrii such as the previously mentioned 'taf' "bird" and 'jak' "to fit".

#ConlangNovember 18: I haven't done anything regarding registers for Alun languages, including Ullalk. The closest thing is a 'polite' form of 2nd person pronouns that existed in Alun that no longer exist in Ullalk.

My internet has been doing this cool thing recently where it stops working for up to 5 hours at a time.

#ConlangNovember 17: Ullalk is very happy to just juxtapose the relative clause, except in a few cases where it uses converbs.

#ConlangNovember 16. questions in Ullalk are formed by placing the particle /el/ before the subject. There are no words for 'yes' or 'no' they can simply answer by repeating the verb in the affirmative or negative form. Verbs can be negated by adding /nif/ after it.

#ConlangNovember 13: Words in Ullalk do not inflect for anything, but they can be derived from verbal roots through the use of suffixes. Compound words are formed by smushing two words together, usually in the form of verb + noun such as: na (to cease) + nolk (night) => nánolk (to rouse from sleep)

#ConlangNovember 12: Alun distinguished only between past and non-past. Ullalk has morphological devices to mark distinctions between recent and distant past. To convey TAM, Ullalk uses an array of auxiliaries and verb serialization. TAM markers are not obligatory.

#ConlangNovember 11: Ullalk is a mostly erg-abs language, but it does feature split-ergativity in person marking. As for cases, they only appear in these person marking particles. All other instances of noun case have been lost.

#ConlangNovember 10: Quyy'lie is an agglutinative synthetic language! I love long words- Basically, words that used to be auxiliary verbs and particles are fused with the verb, making words like this possible:

#ConlangNovember 4: Ullalk is a priori. Alun, the proto-language, was inspired by Eskaleut languages, specifically Central Yupʼik and Inuktitut. Ullalk's grammar was inspired by Thai, Vietnamese, and English (mostly Thai).
