I think this also builds on a thought Ive had for a long time that Steam reviews are not reviews, and they're not your friend as a game developer. Theyre leverage against you that a player can deploy at any time to try and smear your game/rep, and enough being pissed at once is enough to sink you.

I don't think its talked about enough how weaponized Chinese steam reviews are, and how easily they whip up crowds to mass negative review games with weird nationalist shit on Chinese social media. Chinese reviews, completely on their own, have pushed Slay the Spire 2 into the negative.

Finding out Im on the AI haters blocklist and blocked by @why.bsky.team is the exact motivation I needed this morning to draw some pixel art and work on coding my game. Ya know, with my fucking hands and my fucking brain.

Making progress on the idler, getting a basic gameplay loop down. Currently you can harvest starseed, refine it for credits, and credits can be spent on upgrades. Lots more to do, but should have a web playtest soon! #indiedev #gamedev #godot
