I had a chance to attend the BILD Awards of Excellence on Saturday to celebrate the great new homes being built in our community. I was delighted to see O-day’min’s very own Switch building receive an award for best new multi-family rental.

On Friday I got the chance to attend the launch of the John Humphrey Center's Edmonton Activism Project. In collaboration with the Edmonton Archives and a diverse group of experienced Edmontonian human rights advocates, it aims to share the stories and history of Edmonton’s struggle for justice.

Last week, the Province, the City, and Oilers Entertainment Group announced a memorandum of understanding that will see a range of investments in our downtown and beyond! It includes new housing, the demolition of the Coliseum, and a new Event Park.

I'm so lucky to have the chance to connect with amazing people and organizations who are making incredible contributions to our community.

I was deeply honoured to have the chance to celebrate Douglas Cardinal's 91st birthday and the opening gala of the world renowned UNCEDED: Voices of the Land last week.

Welcome back to the Weekly Wrap Up! It was a big week at Committees last week. The Public Spaces Bylaw was at Community and Public Services Committee. We heard from a range of speakers who shared their concerns and highlighted the tensions that exist when trying to create safe spaces for everyone.

This morning I had the chance to take part in the Women in Sport Breakfast. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the many successes of women in sport, and the perfect opener to the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s tour stop in Edmonton happening Sunday.

ProCoro Canada is a fantastic part of O-day’min, and they’ll be singing at the McDougall United Church on Feb 16, presenting “Let us Cheer the Weary Traveller.” With a focus on the music of Nathaniel Dett, and the power and history of African-American folk music, it's sure to be a fantastic evening.

I had the chance to kick off Black History Month on Saturday with the incredible Soul in the City at Winspear. Put on by the amazing people at Five Artists, One Love, the show was a beautiful reflection of how Black Edmontonians have positively shaped - and rocked! - our city for decades.

While we’ve got a 30 day reprieve on tariffs, there’s no reason to wait to support local businesses! I encourage you all to (re)discover the many excellent Edmonton establishments that the city has to offer. From farmer’s markets to local artisans, there’s so much to enjoy!

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to take part in Robertson-Wesley Church’s 110th anniversary celebration. The high tea and tour was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the history of this community, as well as the incredible work they continue to do today!

Happy Lunar New Year! There were so many fantastic celebrations this weekend in Chinatown as we welcome the Year of the Snake. These events highlighted the resilience and enduring community spirit of the area, and make me incredibly optimistic about the year to come!

Saturday was the annual McCauley Cup! It was a great day on the ice for kids, community, and our partners at EPS. I was so excited to see special recognition for the incredible Dan Glugosh. Dan doesn't just make wonderful ice at the McCauley rink, he also creates community.

Welcome back to the first Weekly Wrap Up of 2025! We had a busy first few days back from recess. There were four big items for downtown and O-day’min.

Downtown isn’t just for grown-ups - the Arts District has a ton of kid friendly activities too! This Sunday, the Winspear is presenting Presto, Mambo! with Platypus Theatre as part of its Kids Symphony series.

It’s wonderful to see so many people taking advantage of the beautiful City Hall rink! If you don’t have your own skates, you can still enjoy with free rentals every weeknight from 5-9pm, Saturdays from 12-9pm, and Sundays from 12-5pm.

Council is back from recess today and I’m looking forward to this upcoming session! The Weekly Wrap-up returns next week but if you’d like some updates in advance, join me for my first Community Conversation of the year tomorrow at the Edmonton Newcomers Center and also online!
