Canada Post “lost” 1 billion dollars last year? How about, “it cost Canadians 1 billion dollars to have a national postal service” which works out to costing about $25 a year per person (population of Canada in 2024 = 40 million). Seems like a pretty reasonable cost to me.

The Canada Post news is horrendous, part of recent postal worker strikes has been to add MORE supports for home delivery, particularly due to being essential community members for disabled and senior people whose lives are sometimes saved by their postal workers coming to their doors

hey this is evil and will personally make my life harder and put my health in danger as a severely disabled person there are exceptions for people with disabilities but the excepted services are inadequate, and government of canada disability services often have prohibitively strict qualifications

of course it's SO SO context-dependent what's important & our current technologies don't allow for the ideal level of gradated detail but i can't imagine how annoyed i'd be if i had to sit through seven hundred words about something people who aren't using screen readers get to just scroll past
