If the series is going back a million years - and even includes taxa a bit outside of this range - Chasmaporthetes is also something that can be featured. Think: this, particularly C. ossifragus, is the ONLY hyena to ever live in North America.

I’m oddly fond of this Ceratosaurus’ color scheme. It’s not particularly vibrant or outstanding, but something about the pattern just looks good enough that it’s not downright drab or unmemorable.

No I will not apologize for mostly posting PhP Ice Age. But I just wanted to say, I love how you can actually distinguish elephant bird from moa just from their head shapes. It can be hard telling apart two big flightless birds w/ no/vestigial wings. The models are that good.

I think rn what I’m most intrigued by is sabertooth vs giant otter. You probably could’ve predicted that if you know me well enough, but like…how many times have you seen that??

This also demonstrates how “these two top predators would never fight” is oversimplified. If you would fight a like-sized, well-armed conspecific for a carcass/water/territory, you’d do the same against a like-sized, well-armed allospecific.

Noticed something very interesting in this new paper on hadrosaurid tail pathologies. The authors believe that the focused nature of the injury in DMNS 1493 is the strongest indicator for it resulting from predation. Large theropod bites would affect no more than 5 caudals.
