At first, this was simple for Yves - he likes men. Ever since he's had a nonbinary partner, he's had to question it because what does it mean to like men when the person you're with is not a man? He settled on a "I know it when I see it" lens of attraction but keep it easy he calls himself gay.

I get it, kinks are kinks, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be examined critically. If you salivate over the thought of the "foreign animal" races having more animalistic traits but give a pass for the traditional, more human looking fantasy races, maybe think about why that's the case.

Because he's a messy blob of contradictions and hypocrisies. He's not a hero or villain or antihero or whatever. He's not a story element. He's just some guy with a past that terminally messed up his brain fighting to be worth something in the world.

Everything about him is violent: his hatred, his love, his kisses, his sighs.

Yves punches them. Lacendrelle finds seemingly polite barbs to throw in their direction to demean them. Onghul just does what they say because he's a chronic people pleaser unless it violates company policy T'khet just goes "bro, stop, lol"

I guess their "one unique thing" is how they speak. They all have little vocal quirks that I feel add flavor. Yves has his dialect, Lacendrelle is flowery and melodramatically poetic, Onghul doesn't use contractions, T'khet says like and um a lot.

Yves: "Who cares, it's just a bug." Lace: screeches and demands that someone else kill it Onghul: pinches it gently, tosses it out the door, then washes his hands for 4 hours T'khet: "Aww, aren't you a cute little friend? :3" makes a little paper hat for it

I want to see a WoL that truly grapples with the weight of power and its responsibilities instead of just being a general feel good hero. I want to see a Warrior of Light who handles their entire value as a person being seen as a weapon of righteousness and struggling to find their true self in it.

Yves is unemployable for a reason.

Yves loves his son, but he's a very strict father. He's terrified of Evertien making the same mistakes he did and knows he's not raising him in the safest environment being in the Brume. I imagine when the boy grows up he's going to have a formative "fight your dad" moment.

I like Dawntrail for what it is, I really do. The only thing that upsets me about it is it's not what it promised it would be. It's not much of an exploration of Tural. They promised us a political rift between the Scions as different ones support different claimants and didn't deliver.

I'm not a furry but I'd be lying if I said the mouse burlesque dancer from The Great Mouse Detective didn't do things to me.

Yves: Ishgardian domestic terrorist turned labor organizer. Lace: Cult-raised duskwight woman becomes mean girl wine aunt. Onghul: The most not-Steppe Steppe raised Xaela known to mankind. T'khet: Weeaboo with a gun.

T'khet's mom works the docks as a fisherwoman while his dad tends the home and hearth. He greatly enjoys sewing and wanted to be a tailor, but after T'khet and his sister were born he settled into being a stay at home dad.

Since y'all apparently don't know how your own mods work, Mare has always downloaded your mods to someone else's computer. That's how they're able to apply them. Ever looked at your Mare folder? These are all someone else's mod assets. If you really wanted to, you could piece them together.

Honestly I never really bothered overly modding my characters because as a software engineer cross compatibility was important to me. I wanted console players to not be too far off from PC players with mare when they looked at them.

So before you all go absolutely bonkers blaming SE for Mare shutting down, I'd like to remind you that they haven't bothered for years. The only thing that's changed is the censorship laws in the EU and around the world, and I think that's what took it down, not SE. (A 🧵 on enterprise security)

As much as I liked Dawntrail (fight me about it), I think that FFXIV storytelling is strongest when it only has one location to focus on and develop. I'm pretty sure that's part of why HW and ShB are the strongest expansion packs; you had full time to immerse yourself in those settings and care.

Thinking about it and if you want to write a character to explore the damaging effects of a religious vice grip over the populace and how it affects everyone else, Ishgard isn't the best place to do it. They got over it. Gridania is. 🧵 #ffxiv

My husband wanted me to watch him play through FFXI's storyline. The monkey's paw curled. Now I can't stop talking about Nag'molada.

Playing ninja in #ffxiv is like 18 seconds of having a rabid crash out on your keys and then waiting another 1 min 40 to try your best not to cast a mudra just to feel something and if you mess it up once the shame of your entire family line falls on you like a ton of bricks.

Yves has a son and is still absolutely terrified of being a parent. He has no idea what he's doing since he had no positive role models growing up, but he's trying his best not to fail even though he messes up a lot.
