I've been a bit busy over the past few months! I've still been hard at work on Forte, a new Blade and HTML parser, but also a secret project built with it! High-level, I've been working on a browser-based development tool, focused on Alpine, Livewire, and Laravel Blade.

A little over 4 days left in the month to reach my overly-ambitious goal. Thinking about the scope that's left, I should be able to make it!

Here's a fun weekend challenge: uniquely identify Alpine, Livewire and Blade components throughout DOM changes, and across page reloads, all without tinkering with the implementations, or adjusting the DOM yourself. Spoiler alert: my brain is tired.

Got a very difficult thing to work. The code is sad. Tests first, then happier code. Goodness this thing needs tests 😅

I already had a lot of respect for tools like Alpine and Livewire. However, I've been working on my DOM-diff and streaming tooling, and my level of respect has increased 100,000x It's getting there, though! Diff/patching is working well. Just working to increase throughput

Been working on prototyping a very ambitious client-side project (a Laravel package). I've got probably 10ish proof of concepts running around. Some very pretty, some very performant. Week's goal: start over from scratch and get things moving.

Just dropped a new Forte alpha release that: * Adds Enclaves: isolated compilation environments for Blade * Improves parser multibyte support * Adds column numbers to node ranges, in addition to lines and byte offsets * Various bug fixes and improvements On to the next thing!

Working on something and it was working great. Then decided to throw about 10,000 times the load at it, and it fell over. Granted... its probably fine, but I want it to work 😅 Here I go!

My goal for my free-time in August was to get Forte Core as close to done as possible, and maybe explore one to two useful things to build with it.

Finding a good song to just have on repeat for hours, sometimes tens of hours, is one of my productivity hacks. 🎵🎶

Took a short break from PHP tonight to write some TypeScript. Threw together a quick language server implementation; it's fun to see Forte's diagnostics appearing next to the Laravel Extension's!

So many fun things in the works, across multiple projects 🧑‍🍳

And another quick example - Forte can also be used to make existing Blade features play nice together. This example demonstrates using it to allow the PHP directive with arguments, and the block-style to exist in the same file:

Just dropped the last set of major internal implementation updates to the private Forte alpha branch. Going to chill the rest of the day - and then its time to get working on the fun stuff 😎

The next obvious thing to experiment with was relative performance data - visually see where the time is going!

I built a thing that lets you peek into the #laravel Blade that was used to render a page. It tracks component hierarchy, includes, etc. - works with Blade components, Flux, etc. All without runtime overhead! Might continue this experiment in the future

The core APIs and set of methods for Forte is almost complete. I'm excited for this, as it will allow me to move on to the next big parts of the private alpha period!
