It’s a wrap for the Year of the Snake and I celebrated by finding 22 yesterday, including this stunning immature female Wagler’s Pit Viper. Happy New Year! I suspect I’ll find less horses this year 🤔

I found only my second ever Rhinoceros Frog (Limnonectes plicatellus). “Rhinoceros? Where is the horn?” I hear you ask. The females don’t have the horn🦏

Pink-headed Reed Snake (Calamaria schlegeli). I don’t see these very often. They live underground and surface on rainy nights. They feed on worms and other inverts. Totally harmless to humans despite mimicking one of the most venomous snakes on the planet

I don’t know how these chubby little Banded Bullfrogs climb trees. Those short little legs aren’t designed for it. I think the sight of a column of tasty ants crawling up the trunk is too tempting. Force of will.
