Happy 49th birthday to the legend RAINA TELGEMEIER! She exploded onto the kids book scene with her 2010 autobiographical hit 'Smile' which became the first in a long line of masterpieces. The comic artist has won 3 Eisner Awards, the Dwane McDuffie award, and the Inkpot Award.

A SICK DAY FOR AMOS MCGEE (2010) released 16 years ago today! It was written by Philip C. Stead and illustrated by his wife, Erin. After three years of quitting drawing, 'Amos McGee' was Erin's very first book. Her art in the book would go on to win the 2011 Caldecott Medal.
