I finally made it to Tucson... This trip took me exactly one month. I wound up getting stuck for a week and a half in Portales, NM, and the rest of the trip going was just as slow, but I'm here now.

Remember, remember...

Portales, NM. That's where I'm currently stuck until my money comes through on Friday. But then I'm only 600 miles and 9 hours to Tucson. This long, nightmarish adventure is almost finally over.

I'm half way to Tucson, and I may make it about three quarters of the way before I run out of gas for the week. Continuing work on the Apogee #TTRPG Engine and an #AI game mastering app for it. Looking to start a community around the project to help create a truly universal engine.

I'm remaking my Apogee #TTRPG Engine into something amazing. I will be making AI tools to help create characters and modules and run single and multiplayer adventures, and I want to build a community around developing it to make it the most complete universal RPG system in the world.

So here’s a thought experiment: If I built an #AI tool to turn my Apogee Cinematic Universal TTRPG Engine into the greatest #SoloDev gameever made… would the #antiAI crowd hate me for it? Because I’m an #artist too. Some people used to say using tablets was cheating. #IndieDev #GameDev #AIart

Well... It isn't exactly the best result, but I did make a Commodore 64 style game in TIC-80, which doesn't just mean graphics and sounds from the 80s but an annoying difficulty factor as well. Still, a fun time, and I got a good new game out of it! #IndieDev #GameDev #TIC80 #IndieGames

I've been stuck in Poplar Bluff, MO this week until I get more money for travel on Friday. At least the library where I've been working on my games plays good music. They've been doing Studio Ghibli music most of the morning, and they just put on the Song of Storms from Legend of Zelda.

Well, I'm glad I finished my jam entry early. I wouldn't have had much of a chance to work on it as I suspected. I'm stuck in a dirt lot behind a gas station in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, which is the literal middle of nowhere.

I just crossed the river into the Missouri border and am spending the night at a Pilot station..if anyone's from around here... Or anywhere between here and Tucson, let me know the safest places to sleep in my van overnight along the way.

Stopping the night in a Pilot station about two hours out of Paducah, Kentucky. 750 miles down, 1700 left to go. Out of cash and having to move slowly until Friday now. This trip already seems like forever. But I have to make it by October 31st. That's when my tags expire on my van.

While I've been in West Virginia, I've been using the dining area at Sheetz to work on my games. Now that I've left Elkins and am on my way to Arizona, all the Sheetz stations don't have electric outlets, and there's only a few days left in Cosmic Horror Jam. Damn the death of "third places."

I didn't get any work done on my game for Cosmic Horror Jam today, but temperatures were near freezing and I'm on a drive for survival from West Virginia to Arizona. I'm so close to finishing my game, I just hope I get it done before the end of the jam... and survive the trip. #IndieDev #GameDev

I am going to have to see if I can finish my game on the road. I have less than six days left in the Cosmic Horror Jam, but it will probably take me two weeks to get to Arizona at the rate I'll have to drive to make sure my car doesn't explode on me. #IndieDev #GameDev

I don't really want to leave West Virginia. I love it here, but I can't survive the winter. Frankly I hate Arizona, but that's the only place I have people I can stay with. I look forward to the day country roads take me back home to the place where I belong.

Ok, here we go. I'm leaving WV tonight for AZ. I only have a hundred bucks, but I'll be getting money trickled to me from my apprentice. I may not make it in one go but hopefully I get there before my tags expire at the end of the month. The open road is calling the Wandering Wizard once more.

It's quite surprising how scary you can get a game to be even with limitations in graphic memory, sound channels, and code that can only be up to 65500 characters, but MUSICK (previously called The Music) is shaping up to be a terrifying addition to the Cosmic Horror Jam! #TIC80 #GameDev #IndieDev

Delayed on leaving WV, with the temperature dropping into the 30s. Only a part of the money came through, but I'm leaving tomorrow anyway to begin the 1800 mile trek to AZ, where most of the worst experiences of my life took place. I vowed I'd never return, but it's my only hope for survival now.

Well, not all the money I was waiting on came through, but it hits the 30s tomorrow night, so I have to leave now for a warmer climate. I've got 150 bucks in my pocket and I'm headed to Tucson, AZ from Elkins, WV, the next closest place I have friends. Not much chance I'm going to make it, is there?

#Gamedev is hard when you're living in a van down by the river with next to no money. Tomorrow I start the 30 hour trek back to Tucson, AZ, where some of the worst things that ever happened to me took place. But it will be safe, a secure place to dev, and I'll have my crew back around me.
