I really like how Zohran Mamdani has run a campaign that is so focused on making New York City a safe (including from the fascism of our current federal government) and affordable place for all its residents, and I am really appalled by how racist so much of the opposition to his candidacy has been.

With talk of ICE doing"collateral arrests," I've been thinking of how this is also true for broader criminal justice. When a person is in jail/prison, on electronic monitoring/parole, family/friends/neighbors can also end up in more contact with police, increasing chances of surveillance & arrest.

I've been thinking a lot about uncertainty. Some studies show people experience more stress when there is an uncertain POSSIBILITY of pain, than when there is CERTAIN predictable pain. This week there were false alarms about ICE agents & anxiety was high. Maybe this is obvious, but.. (1/)
