A second winter storm is on the way this week. This one will disrupt travel all across the Midwest. Here’s my latest thinking.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the entire metro. 2-5” of snow expected from Midnight Friday - Midnight Saturday. (2” in Blaine, 5” in Lakeville). Further south, a Winter Storm Warning is in place for 5-9 inches of snow. Over 12” of snow in parts of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Looking down the weather road - We’re mild for the next few days, but a switch to an active and wintry pattern across the country may not be far away. Can I say with absolute certainty? No. The clues, however, are quite strong and paint an interesting picture into December. #mnwx

After 225 days, on November 9, 2025, Winter began in the Twin Cities! The first flakes since April 2nd flew, and once again, I found myself in awe and wonder as if I’d never seen snow before. My favorite time of the year has arrived, and it truly is the most wonderful!

BIG SNOW❄️... more like big NO! The Forecast First Alert is CANCELED. Data continues to trend AWAY from any snow at all in the metro, and is even much lighter on totals in southern Minnesota. A weaker and farther south low means less moisture, farther away from the Twin Cities.

- I fine tuned the snow bands and nudged the highest totals upwards slightly. - Blizzard conditions continue overnight, into the morning commute, ends by midday. - This is Minnesota. We know how to handle snow. Bottom line remains the same. Prepare for disruptions to school, travel, and power!

Heads Up! ⚠️ With nearly all guidance in alignment, a tournament season storm is coming into focus, with rain changing to wind driven snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. Nothing unusual by Minnesota standards, but worth watching! Our team will track it over the weekend. #mnwx

Light snow moves in Wednesday, bringing 1-3" near the metro & up to 6" in northern MN. Roads could get slick in spots for the evening commute! ❄️ Beyond that, all eyes are on the weekend—a stronger winter storm may bring heavier snow Saturday. #mnwx

❄️🚘SNOWY COMMUTE! A band of snow moving across the state could bring slow downs to the morning commute. It’s a light snow on the order of 1-3 inches with the heaviest in the north metro. It’s BOOM or BUST for the south metro with areas south of 494 seeing potentially nothing to a few inches.

Our winter storm is right on time, and moving into Minnesota as we speak. Conditions go downhill overnight with widespread heavy snow during the morning commute. No major changes to my thoughts on snow totals by the end of the day. Let’s have some fun, and be safe! #mnwx

A ⚠️ Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the I-94 corridor, including the Twin Cities metro. Rough travel is expected during the morning hours with lighter snows in the evening. This is Minnesota! We know how to do this. Take it peacefully, lovingly, and slowly, and you’ll be just fine!

Happy Thanksgiving! In the Reece Residence, we are thankful for snow that my Houston family members have been so excited about all day long. As much as I like snow, there’s a special joy that takes over when someone sees it for the first time, or first time in a long time!

Hear me out... below normal temperatures, and above normal precipitation to end November and enter December. A slight risk of heavy snow, and a slight risk of hazardous well below normal temperatures? Perhaps we get a winter this year! Would be nice after last year. #mnwx

Turning mild and brighter just in time for the weekend -- though there may be cloud cover at times Saturday. Do a lot of outdoor yard work or holiday decorating this weekend. Soaking rain arrives by late Monday through Tuesday. 30s for highs return late next week. Maybe some flurries, too. #mnwx
