RIP Sam Neill I don’t remember looking up to many actors as a kid, but Sam Neill was definitely an outlier. Even as an adult it was a joy to see him (usually) grump his was through his roles in Hunt For The Widerpeople, Rams and Event Horizon (among others).

I read through these this week: The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and Ghost World by Daniel Clowe, also Moan by Junji Ito the week before. Reading has never been my strong suit, but I’m actually starting to enjoy it.

Today is my birthday. I don’t really like birthdays. The attention and baggage they can carry. But I think it’s important to acknowledge them regardless, because it’s an opportunity to appreciate life itself. To mull over everything I’m grateful for.

Thank you for the encouragement regarding the last song! I did record a few the others with the intention to pick out the best one, but now I feel I should just share everything. This is my newest song. It’s a bit wobbly in places but perfection was never the point.

Some of today’s figure studies (refs from Croquis Cafe). Since May I’ve really struggled to get back into the swing of drawing, but this last couple days has felt like a step in the right direction. Next is more fashion studies and then scenes. After that I want to start doing something more

A goal I had before my 40th came knocking was to reconnect with my love of singing. Somewhere along the way I became self-aware, and stopped entirely. Not that I was ever a great singer, but writing songs was a such a fun and rewarding thing to do (even if only for myself). Anyway, I know this

Right, after a few weeks of barely drawing I’m going to aim to catch-up a bit. Really feeling a desire to change things up and move past the usual subjects that I fixate on, but for the next few days I’m back on no reference figure to get some of that confidence back. After that more mechs,

Continuous-line figure studies -my go to when I haven’t drawn much. Creative limits like this are something I find so useful to bypass my ego and get some quick/loose observational practice in. Music is something called Strung, and feats. Ang Kerfoot on vocals. Rebalancing/remix coming soon.
