And a third post for today because NASA's Artemis II has launched! Here is a picture of the biggest NASA object I have ever taken a picture of, the SOFIA Telescope from when it touched down at Edwards AFB in 2022, not long before its retirement at PIMA Air & Space Museum.

Today is also the day the RCAF celebrates their birthday, so pictured is a RCAF CH-148 Cyclone with the Canadian flag being hoisted below over Lake Ontario at the Canadian International Air Show from 2019! Visible in the haze is the William Lyon Mackenzie fireboat.

The 1920s and 1930s were a pioneering time in aviation. Here, the Fairchild FC71 used big feet and flappy wings to get a running start on takeoff and landings. Kidding! Its function was to be a flying pickup truck, ferrying construction and crew to remote destinations across Canada.

A pair of Stallions from the ITPS International Test Pilot School based in London - these L-39 Albatros aircraft are part of the core fleet in the ITPS.

3 years ago today, I was at the Avalon Australian International Airshow. Pictured, the Air Force Roulettes in their PC-21 aircraft over the skies of Avalon at the show just as the sun is setting. Soon, the RCAF will be flying these same planes as the CT-157 Siskin II.

#ThrowbackThursday to the time I got a glimpse at Stratolaunch's ROC, the largest aircraft by wingspan in Mojave, 2022. Mounted on the centre wing is one of the Talon hypersonic jets. I wonder when this massive bird will fly next?

I learned that RCAF C-130H 130333 was retired earlier this year, so here is Triple Pig when still flying over St. Thomas in June of 2021 during the Salute to All Essential Workers aerial parade.

It's a Friday and you know what that means... For today's #fighterfriday I've selected the USAF F-16C Falcon from Shaw AFB performing a flare dump as part of the 2023 Wings over Wayne Combined Arms Demo. That show had the most flares ejected I've ever seen in a display!

Bombardier Global 5500 Serial 60065 undergoes flight tests while still in primer before being painted and delivered to its customer. This plane would eventually become N311RR, one of hundreds of Bombardier Private Jets operating in the United States today.

#throwbackthursday to when the Patrouille De France visited Aero150 on a very wet April day in Gatineau, Quebec. You can see the rain pouring in this takeoff. Still to this date one of the coldest airshows I have ever attended.

A NAV CANADA Dash 8-100 flies with gear down over Aéroport Exécutif Gatineau-Ottawa during the 2018 Aero Gatineau-Ottawa airshow. The NAV CANADA flight inspection fleet has since upgraded to a CRJ-200, but sports a very similar paint.

A RSAF F-15SG sits on static display at the 2023 Australian International Air Show. The Republic of Singapore Air Force operate a fleet of 40 of these jets, a variant of the Strike Eagle.

This weekend, I finished my collection of pictures from Aero Gatineau-Ottawa 2025. I took pictures of the twilight display and statics, and will share some of my favourites from the show in this thread, starting with the Beech 3NM "Canadian Queen" departing the runway.

The Waterloo Warbirds CT-133 Silver Star "Mako Shark" launches from #YHM after the RCAF100 weekend at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. In my opinion one of the prettiest CT-133s out there!

Mike Terfehr taxis out his MiG-17F 1613 at Aero Gatineau-Ottawa 2025 as the sun sets. The setting sky illuminates the jet, while the forest in the background is deep in the shadows, resulting in a nice contrasting image.

A Finnish Air Force F/A-18C Hornet in some neat late afternoon lighting at the 2018 edition of the Royal International Air Tattoo. The nose of the jet is pointed almost directly at the sun, resulting in some dynamic shadows and highlights across the front and belly of the jet.

Royal Australian Navy P-8A Poseidon showing its weapons bay as part of an Australian Defence Force showcase at the Australian International Air Show. It won't be long before Canada begins to take delivery of these same jets, joining the rest of the Five Eyes in owning the type.

I have learned that yesterday was the final day of Danish F-16 operations, as the jets have now been retired after 46 years of service. Continuing the mission in its place will be the Danish F-35A. Pictured, the time I managed to see a Danish F-16AM on static at RIAT. This one is E-018.

Chrono Aviation PC-12 C-GICR on the hot ramp at Aéroport exécutif Gatineau-Ottawa, after concluding a flying display at Aero Gatineau-Ottawa 2025. I can't think of many other PC-12s that come in this all black paint, but I like it!

Yesterday marked the 85th year since the Lancaster took flight for the first time at RAF Ringway. Pictured, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum Avro Lancaster Mk. X painted as Lady Orchid makes a steep bank turn as part of the 2016 Quinte International Air Show display.

Did you know the C-17 Globemaster III can deploy its reverse thrusters in air? It can be used in this way for rapid descent, such as how this USAF C-17 based at Edwards AFB demonstrated in the 2022 Aerospace Valley Airshow.
