Probably influenced by the Villarreal friendly photos, but I really wouldn't be surprised to see us go for Juan Foyth as that RCB/RB role

Nahuel Herrera is a player I'm liking the look of. A proper defender's defender - sniffs out danger, physically robust, quick across the ground, strong personality. Might not be "cultured" enough for a top team yet, but sides that have a lot of defending to do should be taking a look

About time for my yearly plea that
#AVFC
sign Thiago Almada. With Coutinho and (probably) Buendía out the door, we need to fill our mercurial South American quota. And Lyon's situation means that surely they'll need to offload.

Brugge playing the better football, despite being a man down. But you get the feeling Emery won't care. Might not be the most thrilling but this is pure savvy European pragmatism

Understand that we are keeping it tight and onus on Brugge, but we're in danger of sleepwalking into trouble. Hard to raise the intensity if we concede.

Some very good young players in the Brugge squad. Jashari the obvious one tonight but thought Sabbe did well against Rashford and Talbi was lively. Goal aside, De Cuyper very strong too

Wouldn't be surprised if it's a cagey, measured approach from Emery tonight. Keep it tight, don't give up anything on the break and rely on home performance

Asensio's quality stands out on nights like this. While others have rushed & skewed their shots, he steadies himself in the box despite pressure around him, controlling a low cross and pulls the shot back towards the near post. 4 goals in his 2

Fair play to Cardiff - even though Villa camped in their half, still maintaining good defensive shape and making it difficult to play through the lines. Hopefully gaps will appear as they tire but Villa need to move the ball quicker

Feel like there could be a great rivalry/beef between this particular generation of Argentina & Brazil U20s. - Argentina taking them apart in the U17 WC quarters - Argentina beating them 6-0 in first game of U20 Sudamericano - Feisty draw in second U20 encounter - Brazil cheering on Paraguay win

Vélez has got off to a stinking start to the year but Alvaro Montoro has really stood out. Silky skills, massively one-footed dribbles, and an absolute fearlessness...what's not to love!

Ecuador have a great recent record of producing centre backs and Deinner Ordóñez might be the next in line 🇪🇨 Just 15 and understandably VERY raw, but not looking massively out of place against players up to five years his senior at the Sudamericano U20

Uruguay have been the standout team of the Sudamericano U20 so far - but definitely benefiting from being on the weak side of the draw. Looking forward to seeing them come up against a properly good side like Argentina or Colombia.

Abdulai Juma Bah is another example of the practially limitless potential that African football holds. Signed straight from Sierra Leone in August, he plays 850 minutes for Real Valladolid in La Liga, and now Manchester City are set to sign him five months later. Relative nowhere to the elite.

Really listless performance from Villa. Not sure whether it was the occasion (cusp of automatic qualification) or the knowledge they are at least through to play off round. Surprisingly naive and sloppy, compounded by poor finishing in the few chances that were created

Argentina's final Sudamericano Sub20 squad announced. No Anselmino but well stocked at centre back with Giménez and Ramirez. Shame that there is no Santiago Lopez or Dylan Aquino but lots of exciting attacking talent. Midfield the only area that looks a little bit short of depth
