Blurb After publishing some of his short stories on his blog, Hugh W. Roberts, who is dyslexic, received numerous requests to publish his short stories in a book. Here, at last, are 28 short stories that will take your mind on a roller coaster of a ride into worlds that conceal unexpected twists and turns. ‘Glimpses’ allows the reader a peek into the lives of everyday people who are about to have life lead them on an unpredicted path.

I've gone through the edited manuscript and returned it, now I've received the layout manuscripts, which I've just checked. Things are progressing nicely.. I am still hoping for a before Christmas release. Anyway, I thought you'd like a preview of the cover, so here it is. Today is Armistice Day, the day when peace came to the world after WW1. It was said to be the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. For convenience, I suspect, it seems to have been moved to the nearest Sunday, As I'm having to spend a lot of time trying to get through checking the edited manuscript of my latest WIP, I'm unashamedly reposting the one I posted for 100years since the end of that dreadful war.

So we used to sing as Bonfire Night approached, but what is that rhyme all about? Here is a link to English Heritage's post about it. Take me to English Heritage I would normally have written about it myself, but I've received the edited manuscript of Immortal's Death and need to go through it. I'm consequently a bit short of time. I hope you enjoy reading about it.

Key Events Leading to the Battle of Hastings Explained
Today is the 959th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. This is probably the most important battle in the history of England. It changed our country forever. But before I begin, I would like to state that I'm not a historian, and so I might have some of these things wrong, especially where people have the same names! Edward the Confessor was born between 1003 and 1005, the son of Æthelred the Unready and Emma, sister of Duke Richard of Normandy, He died in January 1066 and had been king from 1042.

Recently there have been flags appearing on lampposts, bridges etc. These flags are mainly those of England. The organisers claim they are to raise patriotism. In fact, though, it was organised by right wing people Some authorities have removed these flags as they were symbolising the extreme right. My immediate reaction was to do so, but that might have caused more disruption and potential violence.

This is the second part of a chapter I removed from The Wolf Pack. It wasn't adding anything to the story, nor to our view of Carthinal, either. This hasn't been edited, nor critiqued, so please forgive any blatant errors. Carthinal was excited to be taking the exams that would end his apprenticeship. There were written ones, but it was essential that a mage should prove he could use magic safely so a practical exam was also deemed essential.

Savoury Pancake Recipe for Shrove Tuesday
Image by Kavinda F from Pixabay Today is Shrove Tuesday, AKA Pancake Day. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent begins, with Ash Wednesday the following day. Many thanks to Wikipedia for the following information. The name "Shrove Tuesday" comes from to shrive, meaning absolution following confession. Christians traditionally visit their church on Shrove Tuesday to confess their sins and cleanse their soul before the start of Lent.

Creating Sound: Childhood Instruments and Memories
I was changing the toilet roll in the bathroom the other morning when I inexplicably thought about how toilet rolls were in the 1950s. Yes, I'm that old. Anyway, I thought about the old Izal toilet rolls. They were a bit like tracing paper. In fact, we sometimes used them as such. They were hard and very scratchy. Horrid. ‘What has this to do with music?’

Groundhog Day vs. Imbolc: Spring’s Weather Predictions
I know I’m a bit late with this, and it would have been better last week, but I already had a post scheduled. I was struck with the similarity of the US Groundhog Day with the ancient Celtic festival of Imbolc. It happens on the same day, more or less, and is the harbinger of spring. And just as the groundhog gives a weather forecast, so does Imbolc.

Review of Tale of The Season’s Weaver by D. Wallace Peach
OVERVIEW: Ms Wallace Peach has done it again. This is a wonderful book. BLURB: “Already the animals starve. Soon the bonemen will follow, the Moss Folk and woodlings, the watermaids and humans. Then the charmed will fade. And all who will roam a dead world are dead things. Until they too vanish for lack of remembering. Still, Weaver, it is not too late.”

Discover Haikus & Poetry Inspired by Winter
I am currently reading D Wallace Peach's latest book, The Season's Weaver. It deals with a world plunged into perpetual winter. I will be reviewing it shortly. It made me think of a Haiku I wrote. It's still winter, and although we have no snow here, at least not in the south of England where I live, I know there is a lot of it in the US where many of you live.

Miira Tahn: A Sci-Fi Journey Through Life and Death. My Review of the book.
OVERVIEW. This is an omnibus of three books, but it reads as one. I would not be able to say where one book ends and the next one begins. As a result, I would recommend reading the omnibus rather than an individual book. BLURB Because I couldn't find the omnibus on Amazon to copy the blurb, here are the blurbs for the three books in the series.

Horselords has been released
I heard this morning that the fourth novella in the Wolves of Vimar prequels is not available. This one tells the story of Davrael and Kimi; how they met and how they come to be in Grosmer. BLURB For all her life, Kimi has been taught that the Wanderers, as the nomadic tribes are known, are violent thieves. But they are not a threat, and she hopes to have the life of a Settled Horselord, raising horses like her parents.
