It has always been difficult to understand why anyone would join the military, given what we know. During Vietnam it was a draft. We saw who "served" and who didn't.

The only way millions of us survived the pandemic is due to government intervention. People forget (if they realized) how successful those programs were in helping people during that time, but also lifted millions out of poverty. What did they do? Cancel them all.

This is becoming one of those lived experience things.

Only people have rights. Not ideas, not property, not corporations.

The damage done, the deep hole dug, means even if we can stop them, we will be cleaning up for generations. When you think that this is happening against the backdrop of hunger, poverty, water issues, and environmental damage, this seems like a pretty accurate assessment.

Unlike many of us, Stephen Colbert is well situated to begin a new chapter if he wants too. Hope he does, rather than just sit back and cruise (since he has the $). It is a sign of a creative person that they keep on creating.

When I taught high school, I had students that thought they couldn't even write two sentences. By the end of the term they were writing papers. It is a process to learn that there all kinds of things you can do, even if you think you can't.
