He/him Blood donor Cat guy Wimpy liberal
Reading more of Buffalo Hunter Hunter at the pub. I think Stephen Graham Jones is a cat guy. He describes them very eloquently and his writing has very cat dad vibes

Looking at another week of barely above freezing temperatures with sidewalks still iced over and more snow coming today. I take back what I said on Christmas, it's actually good to have 70F days in December

Also worth pointing out a SCOTUS 'Clerk' is a very high ranking position aligned closely with their judge. They write the first drafts of opinions, this guy wasn't like Alito's secretary or mail person

Watching a French movie where for no particular reason, a chase scene goes into a gay rave for a fictional gay holiday. I imagine this is the French equivalent of when a chase scene happens in a Chinese New Years parade with the dragon puppet.

I was one of the few people to make it to the factory today. We have a lot of isopropanol in drums. Maybe I could get some buckets and use that as a de-icer. I wonder if our EHS guy would be cool with that

At the pub listening to ladies at the table next to me discuss their experience with Ozempic. It delivered the advertised results but they stopped taking it because it left them feeling bad in general. Or at least for one of them.

My favorite bullion scam I ran across was a gold "bank" where you paid for the gold and then they promised to store it for you in their vault. Take a wild guess what happened next

Book club meeting went well. We had two new Black members which is good because it's otherwise a very white club. We were discussing Ringworld (1970) and someone said Niven is the HP Lovecraft of misogyny. Even compared to contemporaries he was exploring new frontiers in belittling women.

I'm nearly done with Ringworld for book club today. I think I hate it slightly less with 50 pages to go. The whole thing with Teela's luck is amusingly meta.

I was intrigued by a truly bottom level trash kids animation movie featured on a free movie website. And I am drunk so I started watching. There's an amusing error where a black triangle is covering up the third character in a static shot.

It's not terribly important but it's worth pointing out the idea that the American legal system is based on the Ten Commandments is....ludicrously false. Like notice how only two of these are a crime? Our legal system is a mix of Germanic law and Roman law with Greek philosophy.

Watching Alien 3 at the pub on $4 wine night. The other drunks agree with me, the 90's cgi looks like ass compared to the practical suit. And Sigourney Weaver looks hot as hell with a shaved head.

Been training this week at work on how to test paint products for the new product line we're expecting. I'm leaving work everyday with my fingers stained different colors. I think I'll lean into this and tell chicks at bars that I'm an artist, I already have the facial hair for that.

Slogging through more of Ringworld (1970) for book club. I feel like I must be the millionth person reading it recently to describe it as "A physics simulation pretending to be a story". And the misogyny! It's been a long time since I've seen such classic undiluted misogyny!

I try to avoid buying things online both for lousy goods reasons and driver welfare reasons. But now I'm having the problem of needing a specific item and having no clue where I could buy this in-person. It's a physical map of NYC, preferably one that shows metro lines and bike infrastructure.

Battle of Algiers is an insane movie as an Italian production. Imagine there was a bloody war for Puerto Rican independence against the US. Then four years later the UK makes a movie about it where killing US marines or bombing a hotel full of Americans is portrayed as a morally good act.

Picked up a book about Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement and the League of Revolutionary Black Workers, two leftist groups active in 60's and 70's Detroit. Flipped open to a page at random and it tells the story of a Black auto worker who shot and killed two foremen.

Now I believe that Men in Black is basically a perfect movie. But, I do have one quibble with the plot on rewatch. So K tells J before he joins up that they'll be erasing his identity and he'll cut ties with every person he knows so he can join MiB.
