On deck for today’s Kaua’i vacation: relaxing while watching the Red Sox game, reading/drawing while listening to the waves crash outside, and later today a sunset cruise of the Nā Pali coast (Nā Pali is Hawaiian for “the cliffs” & refers to the NW island’s cliffs rising 4,000’ above the Pacific).

Friday when we woke up for the 1st time in Kaua’i, I was surprised that we weren’t awakened by roosters crowing - chickens are EVERYWHERE here. It seems that was a jinx bc I’ve now been listening to roosters crowing for hours 😂 Luckily, nature sounds don’t keep me up as much as city/people ones!

I just learned that ever since I scheduled our trip to Hawai’i, I’ve been mispronouncing the name of our arrival city. It’s Līhu’e, which I’ve been saying as “Lee-way” but it’s apparently “Lee-HOO-ee.” Glad to know this before we arrive!!!
