Had a chilly but pleasant hike along the Boucher Trail in San Simeon today. Tons of elephant seals out and about on the beaches.

Just signed up for a 5k on the beach in late December. Guess it's time to look for some cold-weather running clothes, cuz I'll I've got are shorts and t-shirts.

First nonfiction and non-horror book I’ve bought in a good long while.

Usually I avoid Facebook comments like the plague, but I was delighted to find some real all-timers under the story about the guy who just got acquitted for thowing a sandwich at a federal agent in DC.

I used to think it was weird when commercials or movies showed somone having coffee and orange juice with breakfast, but I’ll be dammed if it ain’t a great combo.

True facts stated.

Definitely enjoying the switch back to morning writing. It feels great to start my day making some progress and not have writing hanging over me all day while I’m at work. Closing in on 20k words on a space horror novella and feeling optimistic about where the story is headed.

I can take or leave the Cold War subplot stuff, but I have to say Welcome to Derry Ep. 2 had some fantastic scare set pieces… the scene in the supermarket in particular felt VERY King-ish in a really authentic and satisfying way.

My immediate supervisor called me into their office today and asked me to recommend which Stephen King books her teenage son should read next ( he just read Carrie and loved it). Very proud that my reputation as a Constant Reader proceeds me at work.

A little more than halfway done reading Ten Sleep by Nic Beldares. All I’ll say is that this book has some amazing discriptions of the land and wildlife of Wyoming, as well as some deeply creepy descriptions of reanimated taxidermy. A very cool read so far.

Hung out at the City of Santa Maria’s Dia de Los Muertos celebration. After losing two people close to me this year, it was really heartening to see so many community members coming together to celebrate the lives of family and friends who are no longer with us.

Yeah. Just a downright, fun, insane movie that reminded me why I love horror so damn much. First time in a long while I felt like the jump scares in a move were both earned and welcome!!! Also…Aunt Gladys is an instantly classic horror icon.

I’ve seen a lot of amazing things since I started hiking a few months ago, but the views along the Estero Bluffs Trial this weekend literally left me speechless.

A friend who saw I’ve been getting into hiking told me to watch “A Walk in the Woods”. This movie features a legendary combo of Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, and a Murderers Row of kick-ass actors including Nick Offerman, Emma Thompson, Mary Steenburgen, and Kristen Schaal. This move rules.

I got to do a beautiful early-morning, costal hike then join hundreds of my neighbors and fellow community members at a protest all in one day. Damn I love being a Californian.

IDK why I bother writing when I could be putting all my creative energy toward making a chess set out of cheese.
