The first time I saw a Chinese almanac, around 1990, that's when I decided I wanted to learn to read Chinese. Still learning, but I can (mostly) read the almanac now.

You can learn how to do anything on youtube, even making cow dung cakes for fuel. Apparently this is the preferred fuel for fires in alchemical processing for Ayurveda. In Chinese medicine, the preferred fuel is mulberry wood, but maybe that doesn't get hot enough for processing minerals.
