While Wisconsin does not have an HIV criminalization law, the state does have HIV-specific sentencing enhancements. People living with HIV deserve care and freedom from stigma, not criminalization, and Fair Wisconsin is committed to this advocacy.

In 1982, Wisconsin made history by being the first state to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. This historic legislation has been protecting lesbian, gay and bisexual Wisconsinites from discrimination at their workplace, in housing, and in public accommodations for forty years.

This year we showed up to 5 hearings at the Capitol and brought on 2 new staff members. Over 150 advocates showed up on Equality Day at the Capitol, and well over 1,000 Wisconsinites submitted testimony in support of trans youth.

Anti-equality legislators just announced a hearing in the Senate Committee on Education on companion bills AB103 & SB120. These bills would eliminate the right for trans students to use the name and pronouns they identify with in our schools.
