In these days of faceless nation states and investment funds controlling Premier League clubs, what a refreshing change to see a game between two clubs with such ethically-sound ownerships

We have a good first choice XI but having such a threadbare squad we need to bring on Lucas Ness as a forward isn't ideal

not a huge surprise but Aljofree has been recalled by United. Wasn't dreadful but clearly last choice in a position where basically everyone has been decent. And clearly we should prioritise the development of Macari and Ness as our own players.

Illustration from the 1894 FA Cup semi-final at Bramall Lane between Notts County and Blackburn Rovers, published in the Sheffield Evening Telegraph on the day of the game, 10 March 1894. Notts County were 1–0 winners.

Won 2 drawn 2 lost 1 is a decent return for December given who we've played and not having anything close to our first choice team available at any point but hoo boy we need some players back/fresh faces in sharpish

Just about deserve to be ahead I think. I know the bar isn't very high here but also a considerable improvement on Friday.

Notts haven't been particularly outstanding this season so far, more a team of grafters who'll do what they can to give themselves the best chance of getting a result. They've done it more often than not to their credit, but when it hasn't been their day...ooft.

The stuff about the Brighton owner in the press at the moment is really interesting, not least as it probably sheds some light on how our own owners make their money (not the alleged wrongdoing to be clear)

My take away from the Panesar/Smith beef is that England's sledging in this Ashes series should consist entirely of quiz questions. We need to see Smith caught at slip having failed to name every country that borders the Central African Republic.

Can definitely recommend. Mostly what we already know but some interesting stuff about what King tried after it fell apart and his name went public that I'd not heard before.

Highlight of that half was Ness rampaging forward then remembering he's a defender and not knowing what to do next

Be interested to know more about this event the Nest is pushing with multiple stages. I'm guessing "Kop" is the bar/player car park area? They're surely not letting people on the pitch at time of year?

Basically every goal Notts have conceded this season has come from a cross into the box, and somehow Forest are proving we're the best team in the city at defending them
