Finished the third cot quilt, I can pass them over on Friday to go to the hospital. Posting here as a nice pretty colour break from news. This one I did the binding completely myself, and was surprised that the square quilting broke up the flat rectangles so much.

I've got the wadding for 7 cot quilts. Laid out all my fabrics in colour and print groups. I'm going to need some more fabric :-) I've got tons of Christmas fabrics, I don't think I'd make a Christmas quilt but I could do a winter one with snowflakes and holly.

Finished the second cot quilt yesterday. I started it as a test to see how quickly I could turn one around. I pieced the top in a day on Oct 30, then things happened and I got ill and busy and other priorities and ill and busy and forgot how to do the machining part of the binding :-)

Bah. I thought the Drafts feature would be good for: Take picture on phone, start post on phone, save to drafts, finish post and complicated alt text at big computer with proper keyboard. But now I'm at big computer it says "Media saved on Pixel 7a" so no. Describing quilt patterns can get fiddly.

2007 Twitter: I'd forgotten how much of a trial it was going to Edinburgh for that Informatics MSc I didn't finish. So perky at the start! But a month later I was having horrible joint pain, dragging myself in by taxi but not able to concentrate. This was before the Long Covid brain fog obviously.

And I've deleted Twitter - kind of? I intended to leave 7 kettle tweets as a temporary test but it says I have 149 posts still. It's been a faff, going through each post to delete/screenshot/paste if wanted. Sometimes search works on a month range, sometimes replies tab scroll. Sometimes neither!

2011 Twitter: No photos, no links, very little politics, mostly chatting/replying to friends (I miss hanging out with techiebabe). I posted that a good thing with glute/back cramps is to lie on an electric blanket, which I'd completely forgotten.

A somewhat better evening - managed a good chunk of time at the Big Computer going through old Twitter and am down to the last 1500 tweets. I often referred to "the hamster" but almost never mentioned its name, its as if there was one eternal hamster for all those years.

Needed a same day grocery delivery and Co-op were out of vegetables. Tesco - awful interface! Can type in e.g. "carrots" individually, but to browse the Fresh Food section it jumbles up fruit, veg, yoghurt, sandwiches, cooked meat, drinks! crisps! Can't filter on just veg. Took ages and energy.

The floor switch for a lamp was always quite fiddly to manage with a stretched out leg. Turned it over. Game changer.

A system that needs to put people in boxes and cut them into pieces to make sense of them is a system that is not friendly to humans. The urge to quantify autistic symptoms and behaviours, even biological differences, falls under this category.

I find that with age, when I see people relating to body parts and describe symptoms, they say I'll find that with age.

Watching Pluribus. This is not a calming show to watch when you're trying to be low exertion. People say it's different after the first episode so maybe she will relax into it. Hah.

Still struggling after the exertion of this morning, looks like a few days at home before I try small walks again. I'm ok for groceries etc. OTOH my shingles vaccine arm has only the lightest of tenderness and for that I have to poke it quite hard, no redness, can't see where it was. Bodies, eh.

Vaccine success! Everything else unnecessarily complicated. Not the quick win I'd hoped for shoes. I'm aggrieved because the podiatrist recommended them Yet They Were Not Wide Enough. Got a comfy and ugly and too long pair that will do for some purposes. In the shop for an hour including rests.

In Quilt Class yesterday we had a demo on binding - new to most of the class, a refresher for me but I'd got confused with a couple of steps and couldn't progress. I can now finish the two cot quilts! The tutor gave me the remaining wadding, enough for another 7. Which would be excellent practice.

This morning I have attempted to dress for a vaccine (shingles, private), coat buying, and shoe buying. It's cold today; I'll take the top jumper off for the vaccine but they're only getting one arm out of the other long sleeved layer.

Watched Primate at the cinema. I did not know you could do that to a person!

I walked through a newish housing estate yesterday, and for the first time noticed the Mill Road Community Centre. And it has a monthly boardgames evening! And a monthly craft meetup! And a Tai Chi class! And lots of other things! And only ten minutes walk from home. This opens some opportunities.

Cinemas grey out seats for many reasons - not just when they're booked by people. There's often a block or two of "house seats", management can release them to guests or visitors or whatever reason. There are damaged seats. The same 26 seats are grey for Hamnet in two consecutive showings next week.

Today: collected magnetic sheet from Hobbycraft (also picked up a pack of five Christmas fat quarters for £2 excellent), did the HRT re-prescription questionnaire, cooked ten portions of pesto veg and ten of veg chilli, wrote 20 labels for the tubs, and did a ton of washing up.

Three of the last four films I've watched have had someone pulling their own tooth.

Investigating why my patchwork seams are sometimes a bit narrow at one end. Ah, once I get going, the fabric is pressed firmly against the foot guide. There's some wiggle in the foot, so make sure the fabric is also pushed in at the start. Ah ah, this screw tightens the foot so it doesn't wiggle.
