I think the idea that "assembly is faster" comes from the fact that programmers capable of programming in assembly are on average better programmers and will naturally write more performative code. The actual code generated is often slower than what GCC would generate.

What's a good recording program? OBS studio hits about 40fps on my end no matter what settings I try and crashes every 5 minutes. OBS classic at least hits 54fps. Both are terrible because I want 60fps? I feel like that should be possible with a modern machine such as mine?
