Discovered in the New Brunswick provincial archives that the Hanington government did not first resign in 1883 when defeated on a confidence vote. Rather the entire executive council wrote to the Lieutenant Governor requesting a dissolution and a new election LG Wilmot rejected the advice! #nbpoli

The easy fix (which the bill doesn't do) for Quebec to amend its interpretation act to define the term "Officer of Quebec" as meaning the "Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec" so that there is still a constitutional linkage to the office. Quebec can't alter the formal name of the office.
