Roll out the red carpet! It’s time for some fabulous events hosted at The Ivory. I joined the grand opening of this new event space. The best days for Saint Paul lay ahead and I’m here to support every business looking to grow in our city. Just like The Ivory, Saint Paul is open for business!

Great conversations at the League of Women Voters annual meeting. I shared updates happening across Saint Paul, discussed my priorities, and heard from residents about how to make our city stronger.

If you know me, you know how competitive I can be. That’s why I was excited for the 6th Annual Soap Box Derby! We cheered on 11 St. Paul teams defending the trophy and our home turf. Young racers from St. Paul & Mpls rec centers put weeks of hard work to the test as they race their handcrafted cars.

Today, I’m proud to proclaim Mississippi River Day in Saint Paul and celebrate the river that has shaped our city’s history, economy, and identity.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make the Waḳaƞ Ṭípi Center a reality!

Progress isn’t always flashy. Sometimes it’s just the nitty-gritty of improving permitting processes, building partnerships, attracting investment, or making sure residents get answers when they need them. Those things matter because they lay the foundation for a city that works for everyone.

We celebrated 27 dedicated Saint Paul Police Department retirees whose collective years of service helped make our city safer, stronger, and more connected.

Rounding out Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I joined city employees for a celebration at Arlington Hills Community Center. We were joined by author V.T. Bidania & singer Esun Yang. It was a great way to build camaraderie and enjoy a moment together!

I’m grateful to the orgs & advocates who are building networks of care, connection, and accountability that help people succeed long after they leave the justice system. Thank you to Commissioner Schnell, the DOC, and every community partner committed to creating pathways toward stability & healing.

When someone is incarcerated, the impacts ripple through families, children, relationships, and economic stability. Breaking cycles of violence means addressing the root causes: isolation, shame, exposure to violence, and unmet economic needs.

Strong families and strong communities are essential to successful reentry and safer neighborhoods.  I joined the Minnesota Department of Corrections Family Support Unit and community partners working every day to help people transition successfully back into our communities after incarceration.

I’m proud and grateful for the investigation our police officers conducted alongside our law enforcement partners to identify the suspects responsible for the May 4 shooting in downtown Saint Paul.

There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not using something Melissa taught or showed me. I’m grateful to have grown up in my political career under her leadership. She left a lasting impression on everyone. Minnesota is better because of her servant heart and service. Happy birthday, Melissa.

PCIARC represents the belief that community voices matter in shaping our city, especially when it comes to interactions with local law enforcement. Community-first policing means listening, transparency, and building trust together.

Thank you to the members of the Police Civilian Internal Affairs Review Commission for your service, leadership, and commitment to accountability in Saint Paul. As a former PCIARC commissioner myself, I know this work is not easy, but it’s essential.

Today, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is woven into the fabric of our freedoms, our communities, and the everyday moments we too often take for granted.

Thanks to the Saint Paul Garden Club, our city continues to bloom!🌸 These volunteers plant the urns in Rice Park, maintain the South Garden by the library, weed, water, and work side-by-side with city staff to keep this space beautiful for the more than two million people who pass through each year.

This Memorial Day weekend, we remember the lives of firefighters who have passed, honor their legacy, and stand with the families, friends, and colleagues who continue to carry their memory forward. Thank you to all of our firefighters for your service to our city and community.

Today, I joined members of IAFF Local 21 and our firefighting community for a beautiful memorial service to honor our brave firefighters who have passed. Their courage, selflessness, and sense of duty kept Saint Paul safe, often in moments of great danger and uncertainty.

There’s something so special about seeing Saint Paul come alive after hours. 🌿✨

Strong cities depend on the people who keep them running every single day.

I ran into MN Troop 100. They showed me their copy of ‘Dark Sky Dark Land’ which documents the stories of Hmong Boy Scouts in Laos, escaped to Thailand, arrived to the U.S., and adjusted to their new lives. A familiar story! Thank you for your dedication and giving back to your community!

Thank you to African American Leadership Council for inviting me to your meeting. It’s important to stay in conversation with community. Rondo has always been an important part of Saint Paul. I look forward to keeping in touch with all of our neighborhood networks across our city.

Parks play a huge role in creating a thriving, resilient city where people want to live, work, play and invest. That’s why we’re so honored to be recognized as one of the top parks systems in the nation for the 12th year in a row. Ranked no. 4 by the Trust for Public Land!

 Strong communities are built through strong partnerships. It was great joining the GroundBreak Coalition for a convening of local leaders focused on equitable wealth building across our region.

Saint Paul firefighters helped build the IAFF more than 100 years ago as one of its original charter locals. That legacy of service, solidarity, and standing up for working families is still strong today.

Our city is blooming🌸 Metaphorically and literally! Saint Paul’s 2nd Annual Peony Festival was a beautiful reminder of how spring reconnects us to joy, community, and nature after a long winter.

Happy National Public Works Week! Big shoutout to all the individuals who work so innovatively and diligently to ensure our city... well... works!

An interfaith group of congregations hosted the Eco Fair on Summit. This family-friendly event brought together exhibitors, vendors, environmental organizations, and our very own Public Works department to inspire and teach practical ways to reduce carbon emissions at home and in daily life.

Saint Paul and Nagasaki have been sister cities for over 70 years. It’s the longest sister city relationship in the country!   I had the joy of meeting with Riko Tanaka, a Saint Paul Rotary exchange student from Nagasaki.

Knyaw Community Day at Arlington Community Center! We had fun hands-on activities, storytime, and a glimpse at the FunLab and Createch space for kids and teens. I’m especially grateful to Community Specialist, Tu Lor Eh Paw, who serves as a bridge between Knyaw community members and the library.

Meet the Saint Paul Public Library’s newest book lover🥹 I was able to spend my morning with the Knyaw and Karen community at the Arlington Hills Community Center.

For too long, many communities were told to wait their turn, wait in a line, and wait for permission. Organizations like AAPI Victory Fund exist because we cannot afford to wait. We need people willing to step up, challenge broken systems, and play the long game to build a more just future together.

Politics never felt ordinary to me. I was born in Laos during war, came to this country as a refugee, and grew up watching my family fight for stability, opportunity, and belonging. I’ve learned office is a privilege that is earned through service, trust, and showing up for people every day.

Real change happens when we move together with courage, compassion, and love for our communities. I am deeply honored to receive the Rising Star Award from the AAPI Victory Fund.

I gave my first commencement speech as Mayor at Hamline University. I shared something I wish more people told me: life doesn't move in a straight line.

Ramsey County Correctional Facility hosted an AANHP celebration. I was grateful to have a moment to pause, share a meal, and hear stories about what it means to hold onto hope during hard seasons of life. There was laughter, storytelling, music, and a real sense of connection in the room.

Public service is deeply personal to me. My grandfather served as the first Hmong Police Chaplain in the country here in Saint Paul, and through him I learned that policing is more than a profession. It is a calling rooted in courage, sacrifice, and service to others.
