Despite the recent, draconian tightening of Victorian legislation, CPSU members can still make mental injury claims under WorkCover. 

These claims can be difficult, however if they meet the legal definition and are backed by medical diagnosis, compensation may be payable.

Don’t fall for your employer offering “mental injury leave” for days off with pay & employer-provided doctor visits. This is not being offered with your welfare in mind. It is to avoid WorkCover claims being lodged. Protect yourself and your long term interests.

Vic Govt has withdrawn its COVID-19 leave policy but you can still lodge a WorkCover claim if you contract COVID-19 while working. The law recognises that disease contracted in the course of employment is a workplace injury. Need information or assistance with your rights at work? Contact CPSU.

Our public sector is 330,000 dedicated ppl delivering public services. The sector contains the Service. The Service is just over 52,000 of that 330,000 so just 1 in 6 and is made up of over 300 specialised occupations These specialists also deliver vital public services.

There’s so much at stake. That’s why we all need to stand up for our services.

In an awkward situation where the timing could not be worse, Victoria’s Labor government has somehow put itself in the same lane of public service downsizing as the punitive cuts now being meted out in the US and those heavily promoted by the Federal coalition.

⭐️Union Win!⭐️ CPSU members at DFFH in Ballarat contacted us with safety concerns. Organisers headed straight there to meet members & assess the scene. A significant leak had caused damage, & the area was no longer safe to work in. CPSU HSRs issued PIN to rectify the situation. Well done CPSU members!

Anyone for tennis? Did you know that in the first half of the 20th century the Victorian Public Service & several departments (such as the State Rivers Office) had their own tennis teams? Each year the Victorian team would take on interstate and commonwealth public service teams, often victorious! 🏆
