ICE agents serve the people — not the other way around.

We join our colleagues as they demand the removal of ICE from their streets. As the situation in Minneapolis continues to unfold, one principle must remain clear: government agencies have a responsibility to protect the people— not endanger them.

Our state should not be in the business of labeling nonprofits as “terrorist organizations” simply because it disagrees with their First Amendment-protected views or constitutionally-protected conduct.

ICE is denying immigrants under detainment their Sixth Amendment right to an attorney— removing their often only opportunity to reach their family & community. Without a lawyer, people are twice as likely to be deported, according to a study earlier this year from the American Immigration Council.

"By making elected representatives less accountable to the people they serve, gerrymandering undermines public trust in elections, compromises the votes of marginalized citizens and weakens the foundation of our democracy." Read more here:

Earlier today, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of same-sex marriage by declining to hear a challenge to Obergefell v. Hodges. The landmark decision securing marriage equality will stay intact, meaning our freedom to marry remains the law of the land.
