We join our colleagues as they demand the removal of ICE from their streets. As the situation in Minneapolis continues to unfold, one principle must remain clear: government agencies have a responsibility to protect the people— not endanger them.

Our state should not be in the business of labeling nonprofits as “terrorist organizations” simply because it disagrees with their First Amendment-protected views or constitutionally-protected conduct.

ICE is denying immigrants under detainment their Sixth Amendment right to an attorney— removing their often only opportunity to reach their family & community. Without a lawyer, people are twice as likely to be deported, according to a study earlier this year from the American Immigration Council.

Earlier today, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of same-sex marriage by declining to hear a challenge to Obergefell v. Hodges. The landmark decision securing marriage equality will stay intact, meaning our freedom to marry remains the law of the land.

This facility is just miles away from Baker County Detention Center, a facility infamous for human rights violations, sexual abuse, and repeated lawsuits.   Floridians’ taxpayer dollars shouldn’t fund Trump’s overreaching mass deportation agenda.

The DeSantis administration is making arrangements to hold immigrant detainees at a North Florida prison as a federal judge weighs whether to temporarily shut down Alligator Alcatraz, the makeshift immigration detention camp in the Everglades.
