Wildfire Day:LA, hosted in partnership with @mysafela, @losangelesfiredepartment, @hhfsc_, @theautry, and @lazoo, was a fantastic, free community event bringing together families, first responders, and preparedness partners for a powerful (and fun!) day of learning and connection.

Today, joined by his friends and family in City Hall and at home, we adjourned Council in honor of David Codell, one of the most consequential civil rights litigators of his generation, who passed away at the age of 57. It is clear David touched the lives of so many, and he will be dearly missed.

When we asked Studio City businesses and neighbors what Ventura Place needed most, two priorities came up again and again: more parking and a safer street. We’re excited to share that we’ve delivered on those priorities.

Today in Council, I was proud to congratulate @lacorps on 40 years of service to our city. CD4 is proud to support LACC, whose work includes illegal dumping cleanup, vegetation removal, and beautification across the district. The before-and-after photos tell the story better than I ever could.

I am horrified by the deadly attack that took place today at the Islamic Center of San Diego on the first day of Dhul Hijjah, one of the most sacred times of year in the Islamic calendar. I stand with the Muslim community and unequivocally condemn this hateful violence.

Today in Council, I was proud to join my co-chairs, Councilmembers John Lee and Ysabel Jurado, in celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander heritage, culture, and traditions across Los Angeles for HAPA Day, including recognizing Jordan Lucas as a HAPA Honoree.

Since 1935, the @griffithobservatory has sparked curiosity, wonder, and discovery for generations of Angelenos and visitors. Our office is also proud to support educational programming at the Observatory for CD4 youth, nurturing the next generation of explorers and stargazers.

Community members across Council District 4 showed up this month to care for our shared spaces and one another at compost giveaways and neighborhood cleanups, bike lane beautifications and celebrations with rescue pups! 🌿🧹🐶

Last week, I was proud to join the DCA as they kicked off the first of three emergency preparedness workshops for grantees of the ARERPP. These workshops are a condition of $300,000 in grant funding my office established in partnership with DCA — awarded to 43 artists and arts orgs across CD4.

Last night, I had the privilege of spending the evening with the remarkable people of Aviva Family and Children's Services at their Lifting Up LA Gala — and I can think of no better way to mark this Mother's Day than reflecting on what they do.

For more than 65 years, Casa Vega has been a cornerstone of Sherman Oaks. Founded in 1956 by Rafael “Ray” Vega, Casa Vega grew into a beloved gathering place—with a legacy that his family now carries forward. Today, we’re proud to help honor that legacy. This corner is now officially Vega Square!

Earlier this month, I joined @everydayaction at their annual Recycle-Ball—an evening that brought together partners, advocates, and community leaders to support their work connecting vital resources to communities across Los Angeles.

Safety Updates in CD4

Public safety improvements are underway at the Silver Lake Reservoir. CD4 mobilized quickly to coordinate lighting repairs along Armstrong Hill with the Bureau of Street Lighting and vegetation clearing with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps to increase visibility and access in the area.

Earlier this month, I met with the Rotary Club of Studio City & Sherman Oaks. I am always grateful for the Rotary Club’s partnership in building a strong and resilient community here in the Valley.

🚎 Bus stops are public spaces that shape daily life for hundreds of thousands of Angelenos. Through the Sidewalk and Transit Amenities Program (STAP), the City is investing in transit shelters, including this one pictured in front of the CD4 Studio City office with some of our field team!

Eid Mubarak! I had the honor of hosting the City’s annual Iftar dinner, an evening of breaking bread, cross-community solidarity, and spiritual rejuvenation. This event has become a cornerstone of the interfaith community here in LA, and I am humbled to carry on the tradition.

I am in awe of Dolores Huerta, Ana Murguia, and Debra Rojas for their courage in coming forward today.

LA’s heatwave was no match for our intrepid group of hikers this past Saturday!

Join our office, the Department of Recreation & Parks, and the Bureau of Engineering for a community open house on the restoration of the beloved Griffith Park Pool.

Los Angeles is home to 50,000 fast food workers and over half have reported experiencing various forms of wage theft. Two weeks ago, many of these workers came to City Hall to voice support for the Fast Food Fair Work Ordinance.

My district is the proud home of many of our studios, and my office has worked closely with them for years to help keep their soundstages open and ensure production stays here in Los Angeles — because LA is unquestionably the film capital of the world.
