In A Soft Place to Land, Virginia and Elaine are each out of their depth. It's the 1950s, and Virginia, whose lifelong goal was to find a husband, chooses to leave her marriage after only a few hours. Suddenly, she's homeless and has committed an offense that, for the time, was social treason.

This one is tough for me because I draft and edit concurrently. The process of going through and smoothing the rough draft helps me identify plot holes and places where things need to be tied together. So, one version that's perpetually in draft form. #pretendpanel #writingcommunity #queerwriters

MCs have names when I start writing. Side characters often have placeholders ("[NAME]") or names that get changed. In my current WIP, I adjusted the age of a side character by ~10 years, and I updated her name to something more appropriate for the decade she was born. #writingcommunity #wip
